Kudos to the officers of the East Point Police Department! Today they were able to arrest a suspect that had upwards of 40 arrest warrants for breaking into cars around the Metro Atlanta area. On February 13, 2018 East Point Police Department received a 911 call in reference to occupants in a Grey Hyundai Sonata attempting to break into cars in the Target parking lot at Camp Creek Market Place. An East Point officer was able to intercept the vehicle and check the tag, it was determined that the vehicle was stolen out of Dekalb County. It was advised that the occupants of the vehicle had been involved in multiple crimes and had even fired a shot at a person while fleeing the scene of a crime on this date. The responding officer to the Target could see and positively identify the driver of the vehicle, he was identified as Dante Bell. The vehicle fled from the location and officers lost sight. The vehicle was later located unoccupied in Lexington Apartments (2996 Kentucky Ct. East Point, Fulton County, GA 30344). It was advised that one of the occupants was posting on social media and walking in the area of Brookfield Apartments (3072 Washington Rd. East Point, Fulton County, GA 30344). East Point Officers responded to the area and observed Bell exiting an apartment, when he noticed the police he retreated back inside. Officers surrounded the apartment and an occupant inside opened the door, allowing for officers to take Bell into custody without incident. Bell was arrested and transported to East Point Jail. It was determined that Bell had upwards of 40 arrest warrants from multiple agencies throughout the Metro Atlanta area for breaking into vehicles.

On January 19, 2018 Mr. Charles Taylor and his 4 year old daughter Tamiyah were involved in a horrifc hit and run accident in the 3100 block of Washington Rd. Mr. Taylor and Tamiyah both sustained significant injuries during the accident, including Tamiyah suffering from a fractured skull. Corporal N. Allen was in the area working when she observed the accident and promptly went to the scene to render aid until the appropriate medical services arrived on scene. Ofc. Allen held and comforted Tamiyah until the ambulance arrived on scene to transport her to the hospital, where she was life flighted to Scottish Rite Hospital for further treatment. Corporal Allen kept in constant contact with Tamiyah's mother, Ms. Tyquana Ward, following the ordeal. Officer Allen was so touched by the incident and amazed that Tamiyah was so calm during such a horrific accident that she met with the family and wanted to present her with gifts. The family is pictured below with (L to R) Captain Buchanan, Captain Glover, Chief Gardner, Corporal Allen, and Major Popham. Corporal Allen we applaud you for your bravery and your quick thinking in reference to this incident. Keep up the good work!
