We recently received reports of an individual driving around selling meat out of a freezer on the back of his pickup truck. We want to remind residents of the City of Milton solicitation laws so that you know when to report violations: -Solicitors in Milton have to apply for a permit through the City of Milton. Once a permit has been granted the solicitor must display their permit which will contain their name, the name of the agency/employer in which they represent, a photograph, and a physical description. -The exceptions to having to obtain a soliciting permit in Milton are for charitable, political, or non-profit purposes. -Solicitors are permitted to solicit between 10 AM and 6:30 PM Monday through Saturday. No soliciting is allowed on Sundays or on a state/national holiday. Please call us at the non-emergency number (678-297-6300 option #1) or 9-1-1 if you need us!

https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2017/09/equifax-data-breach-what-do With the recent Equifax data breach, the Milton Police Department would like to remind residents to monitor their credit reports to ensure no fraudulent activity is taking place. Although we can’t help breaches of data outside our control, the following steps will possibly help reduce the likelihood of you becoming a victim of identity fraud. For more specific information on the recent Equifax data breach read the article below. 1) Don’t carry your social number in your wallet and only give it out when absolutely necessary. 2) Don’t respond to unsolicited requests for your personal information by phone, email or even online. 3) Consider a credit freeze from the three major credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion). A credit freeze allows you to seal your credit reports and use a personal identification number that only you know and can use to temporarily “thaw” your credit when you need it for legitimate purposes. 4) Collect your mail promptly or hold your mail when you are away. 5) Shred old receipts, credit card applications, account statements, or expired cards to keep people from being able to access it in your garbage. 6) Create complex passwords that someone cannot easily guess. If you have a password with a business where a breach has occurred, consider changing it immediately.
