We have had several reports lately for landscapers offering to spread pinestraw for the discounted price of $4 per bale. The homeowner agrees to this and the landscapers go to work. When they are finished the final bill is often several thousand dollars. Here are some tips to avoid this situation:: 1. Use a reputable landscape company, one that has references available. 2. Get a written estimate before any work begins. 3. Make sure they know to inform you immediately if there will be an increase to the cost. 4. Never pay up front. Sometimes a deposit is asked for, but most only want payment when the job is complete. 5. If a deal sounds too good to be true, well.... you know the rest.
