Hampton Police Department News

Hampton residents, just a reminder that tonight will be the homecoming parade. As with all parades during the listed time expect long delays if traveling through the city. Have a great day.

Hampton residents and surrounding communities. Please be careful if you venture out today, as this weather passes through. Remember that there may still be trees that were damaged, or loosened from the last storm that came through. Slow down on the wet roadways and pay more attention than normal, as it just may be your own life you save from unseen danger, Be safe and please use due care in all you do today.

Kelly Anne Harman, have no fear we will pass on to Detective hicks your appreciation. Miss Harman blessed the department with a visit along with her very special group of kids. Officer Cooley and Detective Hicks are pictured in the photos, having fun with the group. Miss Harman, it will be rare that you will ever find leftover sweets or coffee at any Police Department ;-)

Great job Bo Turner, as always keeping the high standards and care for our community that we strive to foster. This is a message and review sent by a citizen Addie Bryant Gay in reference to a act by Sgt. Turner, we felt should be shared. For those of you who have never met Bo, we included a picture below as well.

The city phones are still down.

The Hampton Police Department was visited today by these lovely ladies from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Chief Derrick Austin accepted a appreciation certificate from them on behalf of the department, along with some freshly baked brownies!!

Amie Autrey asked if we would share this to our page, so here you go Amie :-) ........... Here is a great thing that I would love to have shared to y'alls page. They invited my 4 year old to have dinner with them and she was over the moon excited and happy. Thank you city of Hampton

As of this morning the city offices, including the police department are without phone services. If you need to speak to an officer or need an officer dispatched to your home please call the non emergency dispatch number of 770-957-9121. As always if it is an actual emergency dial 911.

If your power is not already on, just know that the city electrical workers and other power company employees are working as quickly as humanly possible to get all of it back on.

Many of you have asked what exactly is the State Certification we just went through and accomplished. State Certification is a very thorough process that many agencies in Georgia have chosen to go through. It is not required by law, nor does not having it negate the ability or legitimacy of any department. The Hampton Police Department has always striven to make sure we are proactive and up to date on issues and the newest information and techniques to better serve our citizens and visitor to our city. Our Chief Derrick Austin elected to become state certified and go through the rigorous process to become one of the State Certified Departments in Georgia. We are an official State Certified Department for our city. To learn more about what this means and the process, please visit this link. http://www.gachiefs.com/index.php/state-certification/

The Hampton Police Department had a special visitor yesterday that absolutely brightened our day. Miss Clara stopped by to say hello and give us some hugs. Officer Cooley, Detective Hicks and Detective Brady were happy to oblige this sweet lady.

NOTICE FOR ALL CITIZEN FIREARM GRADUATES. As you all know many unplanned things and coordinating issues are arising from the Storm approaching our coasts, and evacuees arriving in our area. Due to our annual COPS event and these new responsibilities, we will not be having our monthly open range this weekend. We apologize for the last minute cancel, but at this point are sped thin on personnel due to the added issues that no one foresaw. Thank you all for your understanding.

If you know anyone seeking shelter or a place to camp during the storm, please share this.

It's getting close, just a reminder for all to come and bring the kids out to play and have fun!!! Looking forward to seeing all our great citizens for this event.

This is one of our favorite events of the year! Completely organized by our very own Hampton Police Officers, encouraging community involvement. This is a free, family event! We are still looking for sponsors, if you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring this exciting event, please contact Sargent Larry King at 770-946-4513. We look forward to seeing you there!!

All Hampton citizens, we would like to invite you in honoring one of our own on August 16, 2017. On this date from 12:00 to 2:00 we will have a drop in at the Hampton City Hall to celebrate Officer Rosemarie Milby's retirement. Rose has served the citizens with honor for over 18 years with the Hampton Police department. Please join us, her law enforcement family in telling her how much she is appreciated and loved for all she has done. Please make plans to stop in and give her your thanks for all the years of service to this community. Rose, may you be blessed with a great retirement full of fun, love and peace.
