We concluded our 2018 Citizens' Police Academy with a cookout and firearms training at the GPD gun range. We also received an added bonus of witnessing two new GPD recruits complete their taser training by experiencing what it feels like to be tased. This was an amazing class and we look forward to next year. #ingriffin #thisisgriffin

On Friday the Griffin Police Department was treated to a barbecue lunch courtesy of Reinhardt University. Over the last few months the police department has fostered a relationship with Reinhardt that has led to nearly 10% of the force enrolling in online classes.

The City of Griffin Police Department is hosting it's second annual Back the Blue Golf Tournament May 21, 2018 with proceeds benefiting GPD Community Policing Activities & Youth Programs. Citizens' Police Academy continued this past Thursday with participants role-playing a mock court case in the Municipal Courtroom with the Honorable Mock-Judge Kenny Smith presiding.

There have been several burglaries in the Ella Circle and North Hill Street area. Please be vigilant and secure your belongings and report any suspicious activity to the Police Department or the Sheriff's Office.
