Just a quick heads up on Iowa’s crazy weather.

The best part of my job is being able to hang out with kids and tell them about the job of a Police Officer! Great group of kids!! Thank you Discovery Time Preschool for letting me come talk to the kids! https://www.facebook.com/casey.hope.52/posts/10214009621268688

In monitoring the weather, we look to be getting more snow this week and weekend. Please take extra time for your commutes, slow down and pay attention. Yesterday was a tragic day for several families with all the accidents. This post is essential for the city of Mitchellville as that is our fire truck that was struck while providing a safe working environment for our first responders.

The Mitchellville Police Department is very honored to work with Studio17’s Matt Cleverly here in Mitchellville. Matt has done several amazing pieces of work for fallen officers the past few years. He donates several pieces of work to multiple events and does a fantastic job every time. Thank you, Matt, for your donation to the Iowa Cops Black and Blue Ball again this year.

Looking at some more snow for Tuesday. As always, please ensure your vehicles are removed from the roadway. More importantly however, please allow more time for your commute to and from your destinations. We may not know you, but we do care about you. Travel safely, ladies and gentlemen.

The public works department has been doing a fantastic job of getting our streets cleaned. Just a friendly reminder to continue to keep your vehicles off the roadways as these hard workers will continue to work into the night hours.

Very active scene. Please find another route.

Monday is looking like we will be getting some snow. We will try and keep you updated.

It doesn’t matter if you are rooting for the Eagles or Patriots, or just watching to see the commercials. If you drink don’t drive, if you drive don’t drink. Officers will be out watching for impaired drivers to keep the roadways safer. Enjoy the 2018 super bowl responsibly.

The Mitchellville Police Department would like to welcome Jeff Mcvey to our department as an intern. Jeff will be spending the next few months learning how the Mitchellville PD works and how we do such a fantastic job with our community. Please welcome Jeff when you see him.

Yesterday Officer Thomas and Chief Spoerry participated in the Special Olympics Dodgeball tournament in Norwalk. The tournament raised over $10K for the Special Olympics. We had a great time with our team, and we are already looking forward to next year!
