As Veterans Day is approaching us I wanted to show appreciation to some of our very own here at Mitchellville PD who served in the armed forces. Chief Derrick Spoerry served as a Military Police Officer from 2005 to 2013. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and served one tour in Iraq from 2008-2009. A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount up to and including their life. Please take the time tomorrow, and every day to thank a veteran for their service.
