As Veterans Day is approaching us I wanted to show appreciation to some of our very own here at Mitchellville PD who served in the armed forces. Chief Derrick Spoerry served as a Military Police Officer from 2005 to 2013. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and served one tour in Iraq from 2008-2009. A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount up to and including their life. Please take the time tomorrow, and every day to thank a veteran for their service.

Mville will be driving a Dodge Ram truck. It's dark gray w/Illinois plate 1942286. The truck has a lightbar on it. FYI

The Mitchellville police department will be testing out a 2016 Dodge Ram truck for the next few months. It will be driven during random times during an officers shift. The truck is dark gray with Illinois plate 1942286. The truck will have a lightbar on it with red/blue color. This is for your information so when you see it out and about you know it belongs to us.

We finally have twitter. Please follow us for up-to-date emergency information and other local events.

We are gearing up for our 2017 Shop with a Cop event and wanted to share a few things. This year we will be doing things a little differently. Our event will be held on Saturday, December 16th at 8am. The kids who are chosen to go this year will receive a packet of info prior to the event that will cover more in-depth information regarding the day we go shopping. If you are interested in submitting an application for your child(ren) to be considered or you would like to nominate a child(ren), please follow the link below and fill out an quick application. The deadline for all applications is Friday, November 24th. The application can be filled out on a computer, tablet, or cell phone. For those who may not have access to any of these devices, you can pick up a paper application at the Police Department, City Hall, or from the school's front office within the next few days. Please let us know if you have any questions and we will be happy to help. We are still accepting monetary donations if you were interested in helping us share this opportunity with more kids. A HUGE thank you to those who have donated already. This program wouldn't be what it is without you and your generosity.
