Letter from the Chief's desk:
I am humbled by the confidence that you all have placed in me, and I accept wholeheartedly the outpouring of support from all of you as an indication that we, as a police department are doing something right toward the commitment of the citizens of Blue Grass.
I also want to express my gratitude to all citizens of Blue Grass, and all of you here on Facebook, and my fellow officers from other departments for your expressions of dedicated support, and your prayers throughout the last 17 months.
I would also like to take a moment to thank my predecessor Retired Chief John Jensen (Pictured here) for taking me under your wing. As a Chief of Police, you Sir, know all too well about the successes and the failures, the victories and the defeats that lay ahead of me, by the experience and the awesome responsibility that has rested on your shoulders for well over 20 years.
I want to assure the Mayor, the City Council and the Citizens of Blue Grass, that under my leadership, the Blue Grass Police Department will continue to stay true to our mission.
We understand that the community we serve, must come to rely on the police as protectors of their life, property and constitutional rights. This is the only basis upon which we can build respect and mutual trust between the people of Blue Grass and the police who serve them.
The reduction and prevention of crime remains the top priority for the police department and we remain relentless in our quest to bring criminal offenders to justice. We will remain diligent in our traffic enforcement efforts with special attention to speeders, stop sign violations, distracted driving and those driving under the influence.
We will continue to play a pivotal role with the children and the young citizens of Blue Grass. We will stand as a model and help educate them on what it means to be a good citizen. In this goal, we will listen to them, spend time with them and educate them on what to do in an emergency and help them to understand that we are here to help them should they ever need us.
As we pursue our goal to make Blue Grass one of the safest towns in the Quad Cities and continue with the City of Blue Grass motto of, “A Great Place to Call Home”, we will discharge our duties with absolute impartiality and with a firm commitment to the State, Local and Federal laws. While at the same time, we will continue to be as transparent as legally allowed through our communications and our activity on social media. We will build new partnerships and fortify the current ones.
It is my profound belief that our community can join together as a strong and united force to reduce crime and violence and improve the security of this great city. I look forward to working with all of you to make this a reality. Thank you, everyone again, for your continued support. I will not let you down.
Yours In Sevice,
Chief of Police
