UPDATE: Ames Police Investigate Drive-By Shooting: Determine it was False Report
At approximately 11:10 P.M. on Monday, December 11, officers responded to a report of a drive-by shooting at 504 Stanton Avenue in Ames. Upon officer arrival, Tracy Flores was found with a gunshot wound to the leg. Witnesses initially reported a sedan driving northbound on Stanton when shots were fired and the victim was struck. After an extensive investigation, it has now been determined that a drive-by shooting never occurred. The residents admitted the gunshot wound was the result of an accidental shooting. Investigators recently served a search warrant at the residence recovering the gun involved, marijuana, and paraphernalia. As a result, the following charges have been filed:
Tracy Marie Flores, age 36, of Ames and Rafael Angel Flores, age 35, of Ames
False Report of Indictable Offense to Public Entity Iowa Code 718.6(1)
Possession of Controlled Substance, Marijuana Iowa Code 124.401(5)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Iowa Code 124.414
Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor Iowa Code 709A.1(1)
