Scam Alert, The Rathdrum Police Department would like to warn our citizens of a nationwide scam. A Rathdrum resident recently received a phone call from a male caller who stated he was an Officer with the "Spokane County Police" and claimed the Rathdrum resident had warrants for their arrest for missing Jury Duty. This was NOT correct. The scammers often request the victim to load a visa pre-paid creditcard with cash then provide them with the card information in return for making the warrant go away. We have also heard that scammers also request the victim to actually wire the money to them. These Scammers often go to extreme measures to obtain information or officer's names to identify themselves with when they call. So don't be surprised if you recognize the name the caller uses. Law enforcement does not call people with warrants and request payments over the phone. If you receive a call like this or have questions, or perhaps, you feel like someone is trying to scam you, please contact your local Police Department or Sheriff's Agency. Rathdrum Police Department's phone number is, 208.687.0711
