Alsip Police Department News

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sutherland Springs, Texas, and to all those families, first responders, and victims of mass shootings. The last 17 months alone have brought more than 130 deaths between Orlando, Las Vegas, and this small southern town. Know that your Alsip PD is proactively preparing for your safety in partnership with the Alsip Fire Department, Village of Alsip, and other local first responders, training hard for what we hope never comes to pass. This video shows how we train under stress so that we're ready if it does.

There were ghosts, goblins, and so much more we encountered this year on #HalloweenPatrol - thanks to all the great families and kids for a wonderful Village of Alsip Halloween! And to Vance Scarsella and family, who gave out more than 300 free hot dogs - and have been doing so for more than 10 years for the Hazel Green Subdivision! We hope everyone enjoyed the candy, treats, and coupons for free McDonald's and Burger King snacks ;-) Here's a recap, and thanks to those who shared their photos with us at Alsip PD and Alsip Police Department!

Happy #AlsipHalloween, Everyone! We're about two hours in - awesome costumes, keep it up until the clock strikes 7:30 p.m.!

You spoke, we listened and requested more signage and barricades from IDOT to help control detour traffic cutting through non-detour routes. More police monitoring is also taking place on 131st St. and 128th Place. Temporary speed bumps as necessary. Slow down, stick to official detour routes, and stay safe out there!

Our world is a little brighter thanks to the Benedetto family in Arizona, who took the time to send us this letter. These siblings have shared their appreciation with almost 600 law enforcement agencies across the country, raised thousands of dollars for K-9 vests, and collected more than 800 department patches hoping to one day serve as #police officers themselves. Tayler and Caleb, you'll be a welcome addition to our ranks on the thin blue line one day...thank you for your support.
