Our deepest condolences the family of Commander Paul. R. Bauer and all those at the Chicago Police Academy who served with him. There are no words. The funeral procession will pass through the Village of Alsip tomorrow on its way to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. WINTER WEATHER WARNING Brace yourself for heavy snowfall starting this evening and running through Friday. Be prepared and stay safe with these guidelines from the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) - and call us if you need us!

CRIME ALERT At about 6:22 p.m. Officers responded to an apartment building in the 4600 block of 131st Street for a report of shots fired. Upon their arrival they discovered two subjects with gunshot wounds in the vestibule of the apartment building. Alsip paramedics were on scene and transported the victims to the hospital. We believe the victims may have known the offender(s) and that it was not a random act. There is no threat to the safety of the public at this time. The Alsip Police Department is being assisted in this investigation by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Winter’s not over yet! Snow is on the horizon Saturday, so remember to drive safely and that there’s no parking on any village street when there are 3 inches or more of snow. More info below, stay warm! Sec. 19-91. - Snow routes; parking restricted. It shall be unlawful to park any motor vehicle on a public street designated as a snow route as listed below: (a) Primary snow route. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on primary snow routes in the village at any time within 12 hours after a snowfall of one inch or more has occurred. Appropriate signs shall be erected to inform the public of primary routes. (b) Secondary snow route. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on secondary snow routes in the village at any time within 24 hours after a snowfall of three inches or more has occurred. Secondary snow routes are defined as all other public streets not designated as primary snow routes. (c) Removal of vehicles. The police department or its designated representative shall remove any vehicle from the public street, obstructing the clearing of said public street after a snowfall of three inches or more. The towing and storage charges or relocation fees for said vehicle shall be charged to the registered owner of the vehicle and constitute a lien upon said vehicle.

Armed Robbery: At about 9:10 p.m. on Jan. 22 an offender brandished a black revolver at the Family Dollar at 12299 S. Pulaski and stole money. Suspect is described as a male white or Hispanic, light complexion, age 25 to 30, and short, standing just 5 ft. 2 inches to 5 ft. 4 inches tall. Photo below. Carjacking: On Jan. 21 a male black offender used a silver handgun to carjack a 2014 Buick Enclave from two men at 12521 S. Kostner Ave. The suspect is described as tall, skinny, wearing a black ski mask and dark hoodie. A male black accomplice was also seen driving a stolen vehicle. Please remember to be aware of your surroundings and call us to report any suspicious activity!

#AsSeenOnPatrol - It was a sticky situation when several hundred gallons of corn syrup spilled from a tanker truck this morning...No injuries were reported from the rollover at Cicero and 127th at 9:43 a.m., but northbound Cicero was down to one lane for cleanup. Drive safely, everyone!
