PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT: Warm weather has caused some brush fires along the train tracks in the Village of Alsip. There are no reported injuries at this time. All residents on Joalyce Drive are asked to evacuate their homes while the Alsip Fire Department, Alsip PD, and our local fire departments work together to put out the blaze. Those impacted can take shelter in the Prairie Junior High School cafeteria. Everyone is asked to stay indoors and avoid the impacted areas. Stay safe, and call us if you need anything!

Hey Alsipians! This weekend we'll welcome the Little League Parade from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 21. Note the traffic changes and give yourself a little extra drive time!

It was a bad day for Thomas, and a good day for our community. At 12:20 p.m., we at the Alsip Police Department executed a search warrant in the 12000 block of Kildare Ave. in Alsip. The target, Thomas Howard, 26, of Alsip, was home at the time of the raid and arrested. The search resulted in the recovery of heroin, cannabis, and a loaded handgun, along with several items indicative of the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. Thomas was charged with: • Manufacture/Delivery of Controlled Substance • Possession of Controlled Substance • Possession of Firearm - No FOID

The funeral procession will pass through the Village of Alsip tomorrow on its way to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. WINTER WEATHER WARNING Brace yourself for heavy snowfall starting this evening and running through Friday. Be prepared and stay safe with these guidelines from the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) - and call us if you need us!

CRIME ALERT At about 6:22 p.m. Officers responded to an apartment building in the 4600 block of 131st Street for a report of shots fired. Upon their arrival they discovered two subjects with gunshot wounds in the vestibule of the apartment building. Alsip paramedics were on scene and transported the victims to the hospital. We believe the victims may have known the offender(s) and that it was not a random act. There is no threat to the safety of the public at this time. The Alsip Police Department is being assisted in this investigation by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Winter’s not over yet! Snow is on the horizon Saturday, so remember to drive safely and that there’s no parking on any village street when there are 3 inches or more of snow. More info below, stay warm! Sec. 19-91. - Snow routes; parking restricted. It shall be unlawful to park any motor vehicle on a public street designated as a snow route as listed below: (a) Primary snow route. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on primary snow routes in the village at any time within 12 hours after a snowfall of one inch or more has occurred. Appropriate signs shall be erected to inform the public of primary routes. (b) Secondary snow route. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on secondary snow routes in the village at any time within 24 hours after a snowfall of three inches or more has occurred. Secondary snow routes are defined as all other public streets not designated as primary snow routes. (c) Removal of vehicles. The police department or its designated representative shall remove any vehicle from the public street, obstructing the clearing of said public street after a snowfall of three inches or more. The towing and storage charges or relocation fees for said vehicle shall be charged to the registered owner of the vehicle and constitute a lien upon said vehicle.
