This year's Halloween Trick or Treating hours for Tuesday, October 31st are from 3 pm to 7:30 pm. Here are some tips for making this Halloween safe and fun for all: ~Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors. Since masks can sometimes obstruct a child’s vision, try non-toxic face paint and makeup whenever possible. ~Have kids use glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers. ~Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, remind them to stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups. ~When your kids get home, check all treats to make sure they're sealed. Throw out candy with torn packages or holes in the packages, spoiled items, and any homemade treats that haven't been made by someone you know. ~Always report any suspicious or criminal activity to the Chicago Ridge Police Department. Have a safe and spooky Halloween!

The Village wanted to make our residents aware of a scam that has been brought to our attention. A Palos Heights resident received a call from (708) 361-3515 that showed on their caller ID “Chicago Ridge Village” as the caller. It was a recording that states that your medical package is available and to hold for further information. Please note, the Village is NOT making these phone calls and that this is a scam, so be vigilant.

Congratulations Sergeant Foley on your retirement!
