This weekend’s temps will reach the mid to upper 90’s with the heat index well over 100˚. The Senior Center located in the basement of the Village Hall, 10455 Ridgeland, will be used only as an Emergency Cooling Center, Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th. Should you lose power, which is common with high temperatures, or if your air conditioner stops working, you can utilize the Senior Center for long term relief. For any residents without transportation, please call 911 for assistance. However, if you are looking to beat the heat and trying and stay cool for a while, consider visiting our Chicago Ridge Mall or the Chicago Ridge Park District’s Lily Pad Splash Pad.

Please be advised that one day next week, the week of March 26, an open burn will take place for the prairie on 105th Street by Ridge Lawn School, weather permitting.

It has come to our attention that some residents have received the following letter. We just wanted our residents to be aware that the Village DID NOT send this out. Please feel free to contact the Cook County Board of Elections at (312) 443-5500 to voice your displeasure about these letters.

With the warm weather quickly approaching, please be mindful and proactive of the simple things you can do to help prevent attracting rats to your property.

Contact the appropriate elected officials to investigate and demand that the appropriate departments enforce all relevant laws immediately to ensure the health and welfare of the animals at the Animal Welfare League.

On Saturday the funeral for Chicago Police Commander Paul Bauer will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The Village is inviting residents to line-up on the sidewalk or parkway on the north side of 111th St. from Central to Austin Ave. at 12:30 pm to show their support for Commander Bauer's family and his fellow police officers. The funeral services will be private and that the procession will continue past Austin Ave westbound on 111th St. We are asking that no one stand directly on 111th St. as the intersection at 111th St. and Austin Ave. needs to remain open for traffic. If you are able to attend and have a flag-large or small-please consider bringing it.

**TRAFFIC ADVISORY** There will be numerous street closures on Saturday Feb. 17, 2018 to facilitate Chicago Police Commander Paul Bauers funeral procession into Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Closures include intersections of Central Avenue and 111th Street, Ridgeland Avenue and 111th Street, and every North/South street from Ridgeland Avenue to Central Avenue at 111th Street. Please be patient and find alternative routes throughout this area starting at 10AM.

Congratulations to Richards High School Special Olympics Basketball Team, coached by Special Education teachers Shannon Scanlan and Alison Wilde, for winning the Gold Medal!! Good luck at the State Games, March 16th-18th!!

Snow is Coming! We ask that residents be sure to move all parked vehicles from the streets to help ensure snow plow drivers can clear the streets. Please be reminded that parked vehicles must be kept off of the streets for 12 hours after it has stopped snowing. Thank you for your cooperation!
