McCook Police Department News

******GATES ARE BACK TO FUNCTIONING PROPERLY***** The railroad gates are malfunctioning on Lawndale just south of Joliet Rd. Unfortunately for the employees this is the only way to get to businesses south of the tracks. Find somewhere to sit (not on the road) and wait for alerts. BNSF is currently on scene working on fixing the problem.

This could affect your daily commute, use alternate routes.

Words cannot express how horrible we feel for the families and friends of the victims of the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida. STOP. THIS. NONSENSE. RIGHT. NOW. To our first responder brothers and sisters in florida who responded to that scene, we have no doubt that you did your best to help each and every one of those students and teachers.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Commander Bauer’s family-blood and blue. RIP Commander. “When a police officer is killed it’s not an agency that loses an officer, its an entire nation.”

In all seriousness...thank you to all the members of the Department of Public Works here in McCook and in the other towns that we all live in, as well as the IDOT crews and the Cook County Highway Department crews. You guys have worked long and hard to keep the roads clear and safe. It may not have been pretty at times but your persistence and dedication has been worth it. Thank you. And at least this didn't happen.....

Dramatic attack on unsuspecting pedestrian caught on surveillance video yesterday during Snow-pocolypse 2018. It has begun....

We survived round 1 of Snow-pocolypse 2018. Glad everybody made it out alive. For a while it appeared as though the end of days was upon us. Although much smaller, Round 2 and Round 3 are coming our way. We ready to rock-n-roll???

Looks like this snow isn't going to let up anytime soon. Time to call in the big guns for help!

Squad car video footage from earlier today.

12 hours into Snow-pocolypse 2018....the sun will be out soon so we can assess the overnight snow attack we received. Public works have plowed the area and created a bunch of 6 feet high snow piles all over the complex. I swear they look like an angry army of snowmen and I'm pretty sure they laugh at us as we drive through the parking lot. Must keep an eye on them as they appear to be plotting against us. SO. MUCH. SNOW.

Snow-pocolypse 2018 is almost upon us. Close the windows, lock the doors, turn up the heat....we'll take attendance on Sunday to see who made it and who didn't. Good luck everyone.

Get those shovels, snowblowers, and boots back out!!!! Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow....

Congratulations to Brian Urlacher for being elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame 2018 class. He was an outstanding player and face of the Bears organization for a long time. He deserved this honor. #urlacher #halloffame2018 #bears #number54

The McCook Police Department was the first agency in Cook County to implement a Narcan program using a new nasal sray product instead of the original syringe based products. Based, in part, on our program the Cook County Department of Homeland Security secured federal grant money and then teamed up with Loyola Medicine to create a similar program county-wide for suburban police departments. Watch the video link below for info on the new program and the Narcan nasal spray.

We welcomed the newest addition to the McCook Police Department family this morning. At 0327hrs on January 25th, Mason James was born weighing in at 9lbs 1oz. Mom and baby are both doing well. Congrats to Officer Russ as he embarks on the journey of being a first time dad.

A snow owl has made its way to McCook. One of our officers was patrolling when the owl flew right in front of his squad and landing on a light pole.

Who else saw the Titans/Chiefs game a little bit ago where Marcus Mariotta threw the ball, it was deflected by a KC player and then Mariotta caught the deflection and ran it in for a touchdown??? That was pretty smooth! #nflplayoffs #wherearethebears #catchyourownpass #cantbelievetitanswon

Congratulations to our newest Police Officer, Tamarah Efein. She begins the basic police recruit academy class on Monday January 8, 2018. Good luck in your new career and welcome to the McCook Police Department.
