***PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT*** The Thornton Police are not conducting any investigation in or around the Reservoir. There is an investigation being done by another agency and if needed the Thornton Police will assist. The reservoir is scheduled to be completely emptied by the end of the day and may pose significant odors for several days.

Congratulations to Eric Wiley, who was sworn in as our newest full time officer. Eric has been in law enforcement for over 10 years and will be a great asset to the Thornton Police and complete our staffing.

Congratulations to officer Wesolowski for 20 years of dedicated service to the village of Thornton. Rick played several important roles in his 20 years as range instructor, 18 years in SWAT (SSERT), detective and countless instructor courses for our department.

As part of an Earth Day incentive, Thornton Police officers volunteered their time to help clean up a small stretch of Ridge Road near Homewood Memorial Cemetery. Trash was picked up and damaged road signs were cut down.

WINTER STORM CENTRAL: FULL COVERAGE 1. A Winter Weather Advisory is issued for all counties along and north of I-74. 2. A band of snow from a potent clipper will drift into Illinois Monday afternoon into Monday night. 3. Snowfall rates of 1" per hour are likely along I-74 to I-88. 4. The heaviest snow of 6" or more is expected along I-74 and north to I-80. 5. All areas in the advisory should see at least 3" or more. 6. Due to high snowfall rates and low visibilities with snow-packed roads, very dangerous travel is being issued. 7. The Tuesday system is being watched too, as Central and Southern Illinois will see more accumulation. 8. Several inches of additional accumulation is possible along and south of I-74 Tuesday night, and along and north of I-64. 9. Follow Illinois Storm Trackers for updates through the storms!

This case was worked by the Thornton Police and South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force (SSMCTF) which Thornton has been part of since 2005. The South Suburban major Crimes Task Force took over the case and were able to put this man behind bars where he belongs.

Found this little guy on Friday December 8th. He was located off of Williams St. near 172nd. If anyone knows where he belongs, please contact Thornton PD.
