BURN BAN LIFTED September 19th, 2017 According to Fire Chief Gary Lindemann, the burn ban for Jasper County has been lifted.

According to Fire Chief Gary Lindemann and Chief Mike Swick the Burn Ban is lifted for the City of Newton ONLY! The BURN BAN is still in effect for JASPER COUNTY, until further notice.

Chief Mike Swick, Sheriff Rick Britton, Mayor Mark Bolander and Fire Chief Gary Lindemann have issued a NO BURN POLICY due to the extreme dry conditions. This BAN is effective immediately for the City of Newton and Jasper County. This includes burning in fire pits, trash barrels, yard waste etc. This will be effective until we receive a significant amount of rain. Thank you.
