It's that time of year again! The Hampshire Police FOP Lodge is currently selling raffle tickets to continue our tradition of helping several area families over the holiday season. Prizes are listed on the tickets ($2 ea.) and the drawing will be held on December 20. They may be purchased at the P.D. or through any H.P.D. officer. Better yet, while you're giving blood at the P.D. this Saturday between 9am-1pm (see below flyer) we will accomodate your raffle ticket buying needs, too!

The Hampshire Police Department sends our sincere condolences to the members of the Rockford Police Department, along with our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Officer Jamie Cox. Officer Cox was killed in the line of duty early Sunday morning, he was only 30 years old. Rest in peace, Officer Cox.

Winter Parking Ban begins midnight November 1st. thru April 1st. No on-street parking from 1am-6am on all village streets.

Halloween Trick or Treat Hours 4:00-7:00PM. Please direct any unwanted Snickers bars to the PD, be aware and be safe!

Some events just brings the kid out in all of us! Officer Hughes enjoying Trunk or Treat at the Hampshire Township Park District's sponsored event Friday evening.

The brick facade at 193 N. State is unsecure and the sidewalk is prohibited from pedestrian traffic.

You may want to avoid the area Wednesday morning. Please take extra care, watch out for the workers.

The Village of Hampshire will be performing a test on each storm warning siren today. The most you will notice is a short siren tone from each site.

The Hampshire Police Department will be joining the township and fire department this Saturday, Sept., 16, from 9-11am for Touch-A-Truck at the Farmer's Market. Bring the kids to check out one of our squad cars and ask questions. ***Officer Meneely will be on hand to inspect your child's car safety seat, no appointment needed! See you all at the Hampshire Commons on Rt. 72!

Officer Meneely will be at Seyller Park on Sunday (9/10) to install or inspect your child safety car seats. Car seats will also be checked for any factory or safety recalls! Weather is going to be great so make plans now to stop by between 2-4pm.

School starts Tuesday, Aug. 15th.!!! Be aware of all school zones and buses stopping on the roadways.

Please use extreme caution when traveling through the intersection of Rt. 72 @ State Street. Creek is again flooding the intersection.

Another early morning update

The Hampshire Police Department is out actively patrolling the streets to aid the Public Works crews already out working to combat the water and the trees. We are aware that there is a lot of flooding on roadways and in backyards. Please know that we are doing the best that we can to combat mother nature tonight into this morning.

Two bicycles stolen from the library on June 16 were recovered today. Special thanks goes out to the person who recognized the bikes from an eariler FB post and the folks on-duty who recovered them, good job! Nice to see a group of happy people.

From time to time we will present a "fact" that may apply to a question we have received... * It is unlawful to park across a sidewalk (unless between Nov. 1- Apr.1, 9:00pm-6:00am only, parking is allowed) * No door to door solicitors allowed in the residential areas of the village. Exceptions; religious, charity or political organizations. * Dogs must be on leash at all times when off your property. This includes parks as well. * Off-road motorcycles, mini-bikes, 3 & 4 wheelers along with golf carts are prohibited from operating on the roadways. This includes sidewalks and the ditch line along the side of the roads. * No motorized vehicles allowed in the parks. * Discharging a weapon within the village is prohibited. Anything that launches a projectile; firearms, slingshot, blowgun, bow and arrow, BB pellet gun, Airsoft gun, ect. * Unlawful to possess any fireworks that launches and/or explodes. Snakes, smoke bombs and sparklers are legal.

State Street between Jackson and Washington will be closed to through traffic this Saturday 3-8pm. Detours have been provided around this closure.

It was a rainy Thursday night 17 years ago when we lost Greg, time has not dimished his impact on the community.
