After all this rain, there is a lot of standing water (which means more of our mosquito "friends"). As most of the Village of Bannockburn is in the Southlake Mosquito Abatement district, we ask that you report this standing water to them. Their contact information can be found on their website: http://slmad.org/standing-water-report

We are under a "watch" for potential development of severe storms tonight. Please make sure to pay attention to your local weather.

The Bannockburn Police Department is warning residents to LOCK YOUR VEHICLES! In neighboring communities, there have been several reports of cars being burglarized as well as cars being stolen. The common denominator in all these crimes are cars that are left unlocked with cash, wallets, purses and keys left inside and in view. Thieves will try door handles until they find an unlocked one. Vehicles do not have to be "broken into" to gain entry. Please do not be a victim of opportunity. The offenders are looking for unlocked cars and garages!

Please lock up!

Village Forester Surveying Hazardous Trees On Thursday, July 13th and Friday, July 14th, the Village of Bannockburn Forester will be performing a hazardous tree survey for trees along the Village’s streets/right-of-way. In addition, the Village Forester will be performing a survey of diseased elm trees (to determine if they have Dutch Elm Disease) within the entire Village. The Village Forester will be identified with a bright color vest that says “Village Forester”. The Forester may be accessing your property if a diseased elm is spotted on your property (ONLY Elms). It will be important for residents to remove trees determined to have Dutch Elm Disease because it quickly spreads to other trees which may be on some other persons property. http://bannockburn.org/latest-news/village-forester-surveying-hazardous-trees/

Village of Bannockburn Storm Update [This message was sent by the Village of Bannockburn] The Village of Bannockburn currently has standing water on roadways on Telegraph Rd by the Bannockburn School, and the intersections of Telegraph Road and North Ave and Telegraph Road and Half Day Road (Route 22). Telegraph Road is open. However, please slow down and use caution when approaching those areas. Several residents are without power. There are no estimates from Commonwealth Edison on when power will be restored. There is also an issue of standing water on Waukegan Road going southbound, south of Half Day Road. The outside lane’s width is reduced due to standing water. Bannockburn Court and Broadleys Court have excessive standing water. You may not be able to drive on those streets.

Remember, to report a power outage, call 1-800-Edison-1 or report it via their Smartphone App or Online (www.comed.com)

Good morning. We are aware of the flooding on Bannockburn Court, portions of Telegraph Road and Broadley's Court and are doing what we can to help reduce the water height. However, with the amount of rain Bannockburn had last night and the new rain, the only thing we can do is wait for it to subside.
