Home Invasion: Gurnee – On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at approximately 11:06 p.m., Gurnee Police responded to a report of a home invasion in the 1600 block of Belle Plaine Ave. It was reported that two or three suspects forcefully entered the home, displayed a handgun, and fled on foot after taking cash. The investigation identified one of the suspects, and on January 31, 2018 a warrant for home invasion, armed robbery, and residential burglary was issued for Xzemenize Boose, 19, of North Chicago. On February 14, 2018 Boose was arrested by members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (GLRFTF). Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Deputies obtained information Boose was scheduled for a meeting in Arlington Heights, where he was located and arrested without incident. He was remanded to the custody of the Lake County Jail with a $750,000 bond. The investigation is still ongoing. On October 9th, 2017 Brittany Tazzioli (center) was sworn in as our newest Gurnee police officer. Officer Tazzioli joins us through our lateral entry hiring program after serving the Village of Lincolnshire since 2015.

Gurnee Communications Center Open House To showcase the renovated Gurnee Communications Center and our new dispatch team, the Gurnee Police Department will be hosting an open house for Gurnee and Zion residents to visit on Monday, October 9th at 6:00 p.m. There will be a presentation explaining the legislation that prompted the consolidation, the process involved in consolidating dispatch and a tour of the new center.

CASE UPDATE: A composite sketch can be viewed below. On Sunday, September 24th, 2017, a criminal sexual assault was reported to the Gurnee police department. The crime is reported to have occurred on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017, between 8:00 and 9:00 PM, outdoors on a wooded walking path, south of the intersection of Washington Street and IL Route 21. The offender is described as male having a “tan” complexion, being of medium build, approximately 5’10”, 180 lbs. He has dark short hair, that was shaved on the sides and facial hair in the form of a goatee. He’s described as smelling of smoke and was “sweaty” at the time of the offense. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt made of light weight material. The sweatshirt is believed to have had a white Under Armour logo on the left breast. He was wearing dark-colored, possibly sweat pants. Anyone having information about this incident is asked to call the Gurnee Police Department at 847-599-7000. On Monday 09/18/17, Brian Fiene was sworn in as a Gurnee police officer by Village Administrator Muetz. Officer Fiene comes to us through our lateral entry hiring program. He's been serving in the City of Zion since 1997.
