As Chief of the Aurora Police Department, I know we still have some work to do, but I would like to take time to SHOUT OUT A BIG THANK YOU to my Department, Aurora Fire Chief Jeff Lane & the Aurora Fire Department, Aurora Emergency Rescue Unit President Ed Opp & his members, Mayor Donnie Hastings, Jr. & the City Officials, Aurora Utilities & City Crew, INDOT, Jason Sullivan & EMA, Dearborn County Sheriff Department, Dearborn County Water Rescue, Indiana State Police, American Red Cross, and the other local Fire & EMS Departments that assisted, PLUS the endless volunteers & everyone that has donated time, supplies, food, & drinks, and a tremendous amount of hard work to clean up and return our beautiful City to its pre-flood glory!! In accordance with Indiana Extension Homemakers Association Week, Jan Uhlmansiek, Sandy Bruce, Betty & Ollie Willoughby - Members of the Dearborn County Extension Homemakers - stopped by APD with baked goodies for the Officers. Thank You Lexi & Odin Morris for the Pumpkins you brought to Aurora Police Department and presented to Chief Josh Daugherty. Lexi entered them in the Aurora Farmer Fair contest last week. The Police Officer Pumpkin won 1st Place & The Blue Thin Line won 2nd !!! Lexi also gave each Officer a bag of candy for Halloween.

2017 Aurora Farmers Fair theme was: Supporting First Responders. The Aurora Lions Club chose three men to share duties as the Parade Grade Marshals: Aurora Police Chief Josh Daugherty, Aurora Fire Chief Jeff Lane, and Aurora Emergency Rescue Unit President Ed Opp. They received Grand Marshal plaques wednesday night on the main stage and rode on the Lions Club float during the parade. Thank you gentlemen for all your hard work and dedication to our City. (Special thanks to Mary Daugherty and Felicia Caudill for the great pictures.)

Evidently someone thinks we are Rock Stars! We thank the very thoughtful artist or artists that painted the Aurora PD rocks and placed them at our door.

We would like to thank the Aurora Brownie Troop 49600 and their leaders, Patty Ward & Shanda Batchelor, for visiting us and bringing Thank You Cards and Baked Goods to the Officers. The Troop toured the Department and met Officers Jason Siekman, Jon Kolb & K9 Cento.

The Aurora Police Department is asking for assistance in identifying this male subject that was involved in a criminal mischief incident in the Wal-Mart Parking lot at approximately 1:45 PM Friday September 1st, 2017. The suspect removed his shirt and used a sharp object to flatten a tire on a silver Chevrolet Trail Blazer that was parked in the handicap parking spot of Row 5. The Aurora Police Department is asking for assistance in identifying this male subject that was involved in a leaving the scene motor vehicle accident on August 31st, 2017. This crash occurred around 5:30 pm and was in the Dollar General Parking lot. The male seen in these photos was driving a white passenger vehicle with damage to the front end. Chief Josh Daugherty and Sgt./CSI Shane Slack assisted with the Officer Phil Safety Program at the Aurora Elementary School. The children learned about the importance of Honesty, Integrity, & Manners. The program also told the students not to bully their friends and explained the consequences of their actions. St. John's & St. Mary's students will also attend the program on Thursday.
