On 10/28/2017 at approximately 6:38 p.m., officers with the Pittsboro Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of Penny Lane for a report of a violent domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male, identified as Craig Chesser, age 59 and a deceased adult female, identified as Chasity Chesser age 39. Evidence indicates that Chasity Chesser died from a single gunshot wound to the head and Craig Chesser died from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. A 9mm semi-automatic handgun was recovered at the scene. Four children ages 9,11,13 and 17, were located at the residence and were unharmed. Craig and Chasity Chesser were married and resided in the residence together with their four children. The Pittsboro Police Department has determined this to be a murder/suicide. The Indiana Division of Child Services responded to the scene and the children were placed with family members. The Pittsboro Police Department has no prior runs to the residence.
