Congratulations to Nick Naselroad as he graduated today from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy!

Chief Brizendine would like to make students, parents and citizens aware that while there is no reason for concern at this time, the Elwood Police Department will have an increased presence of officers in and around the schools these last three days of the school year.

A message from Chief Brizendine: Due to the incident that took place this morning at Noblesville West Middle School, our officers will have extra presence in Elwood schools today.

You might notice “No Parking - Emergency Order” signs posted in various areas throughout the city. These sings have been placed in the areas where paving will take place over the next week.

Prayers go out to the family, friends, and coworkers of the Terre Haute Police Officer who was shot and killed this evening.

With the summer months approaching, the City of Elwood and the Elwood Police Department would like to remind the citizens of Elwood about the Alternative Transportation Ordinances throughout the city. Please see the attached documentation. Beginning May 1, 2018, the Elwood Police Department will begin doing Golf Cart Inspections.

Items Found: A resident in the 200 block of North 6th Street found personal items in his yard this morning. Items found included glasses a medicine list and keys. To claim, please come to the police department lobby and pick up the black phone receiver to request an officer.

The Elwood Police Department is currently seeking the public's help in locating a hit and run suspect from early this morning. The vehicle is described as a silver Ford SUV that may have off road style lighting in addition to the standard lighting. The vehicle should have substantial damage to the front end. Anyone who has information is encouraged to contact Madison County Central Dispatch at 642-0221.

The entire City of Elwood is without power at this time. Please use extreme caution when traveling through the city as all stop lights are out.

Officer Walker took some time today and called BINGO numbers for the residents at Community Parkview. They really enjoyed getting to spend time with him and appreciated him coming out!
