We would like to take this time to post a few things for the community. We have had a few business, residential, and vehicle burglaries lately in Iola. We would remind people to please secure your property. Most of these have been crimes of opportunity where the suspect has just had to open an unlocked door. You need to remove keys from vehicles and secure your home and outbuildings. Make sure your windows are secured. Don't leave things like a purse or a computer sitting in your vehicle or on a kitchen counter in site through a window. If you see something that looks suspicious please call dispatch at 365-1437 and we can check them out, we really don't mind. If you hear a car alarm going off call that in too. Another thing that we would like to remind people is now that it is getting dark earlier and we have more people using bike trails and jogging please watch people on the side of the road or using sidewalks and crosswalks. Thanks and have a safe week and get out to enjoy Farm City Days this weekend.
