2-28-18--- Update... This friendly guy made it home this morning. Thank you all for helping us find his owner. (They were very glad to be taking him back home) Good morning My fellow Hill City residents, The Hill City Police Department needs your help to find this handsome fella his home. On 27 Feb 2018 around 2330 a yellow long hair lab male dog( labradoodle) was chasing cars on Main St between Forth St and Pomeroy St. Unfortunately this young fella did not have tags so no owner was found at that time. So if you happen to know the owner or you are the owner you can contact at the Hill City Police Department @ 785-421-2244 to arrange a pick up time. Again thank you all for your help!

In an effort to keep our community informed of the situation at The Hill City Jr-Sr High School. We are issuing one last statement. Administrators from The Hill City High School, Officers of The Hill City Police Department, and parents, along with the students involved in this incident met this morning. The result of the meeting determined that social media and rumors played a part in this situation. In the end, the information was still inconclusive as to whether or not a threat was made. An all school assembly was held, both in the morning, and afternoon, to give students information about dealing with rumors, and to stress reporting to proper authorities when threats are possible. We thank the parents, students and the community for their support in this matter, and hope they continue to support us in future instances, should they arise. We would also like to thank The Graham County Sheriff's Office for their assistance. We now consider this matter closed, and will not be issuing any further statements. Asst. Chief Chris Smee #202 Auth #201

On February 21st The Hill City Police Department received information that a student may have made a threat of violence involving students at The Hill City Jr-Sr High School. While investigating, all parents and students involved were contacted. The results of that investigation are inconclusive and there is no evidence that any threat occurred. As a precaution, The Hill City Police Department, along with The Graham County Sheriff’s Office, will have officers present at The Hill City High School, on the morning of February 22nd. The Hill City Police Department takes all reports of violence seriously, and encourages everyone to please make reports to our office if you hear or see anything. We appreciate the community’s support in this and all matters, especially school related. Asst. Chief Chris Smee #202 Auth #201

Just a little fun history for those of you who wonder why "H" road in Graham County is also called "The Red Line" - Chris

I've been told by The USD 281 superintendent, that Hill City will NOT be having school tomorrow. Therefore, the 5th grade D.A.R.E. Graduation will be postponed until sometime after Christmas vacation. Chris

By now, most of you have probably heard about Equifax (One of the major credit bureaus) had a security breach. They are estimating that 143 million (more or less) may have had their personal information (credit accounts, social security numbers, etc,) compromised. Equifax has set up a web page for consumers to check to see if their information was potentially compromised. https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com/potential-impact/ Click on this link, it will take you directly there. You can also sign up for credit monitoring to assist in keeping an eye on your accounts. As always, when dealing with personal information on the internet, please make sure the web page starts with https not http If there is no "S" at the end, the web page is NOT secure. - Chris
