Did you know that even a cell phone with no plan on it can still call 911? Most modern phones can still call 911 and is a great safety feature for many people. But parents please be aware of that when you give a child an old cell phone. If you leave the battery in for them to use on Wi-Fi make sure they know not to call 911 unless it is an emergency. If you give a cell phone to a toddler, please remove the battery.

Be aware of people calling and posing as a relative saying that they need bail money. Even if it comes from a local number. If you do receive one of those calls make sure you ask certain questions that only your relative can answer. The Harper County Jail does not accept bail money over the phone. Do not not give them any information and if you have any doubts hang up and call the jail or local law enforcement directly.
