Currently working an accident involving a Union Pacific train vs pickup truck on the railroad bridge crossing the Delaware River. THERE ARE NO INJURIES.

We are currently on scene of a tractor trailer fire in the parking lot of Bernie’s. The tractor trailer was eastbound on US 24 Hwy when a rear tire on the tractor blew out. Driver pulled off the roadway and Perry PD arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Kentucky Twp Fire Dept. arrived on scene and ensured the fire was completely extinguished.

At approximately 6:45 am, Perry PD along with Kentucky Twp Fire Dept and area mutual aid responded to Redbud Ln. in the City of Perry for smoke reported inside a residence. First arriving units reported smoke inside the structure and was isolated to the furnace system. The fire was quickly extinguished and mutual aid was cancelled.

Last night at approximately 11:00 pm, Perry PD along with the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office, Kentucky Twp Fire Department, Fairview Twp Fire Department and Jefferson County EMS, responded to the Slough Creek camping area at Perry Lake for a reported injury accident involving two watercraft. Three patients were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

NOTICE: A water main break in the City of Perry has resulted in a water boil order from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. This affects residences on Bridge St. from Main St west to the Delaware River. This also includes Redbud Ln. and Walnut Ct. The order is effective through September 4th.

Every officer with PPD also volunteers with Kentucky Twp Fire Department. The majority of the time when Kentucky Township responds to an emergency, Perry PD is right there with them.

Tonight, officers with the Perry Police Department conducted "night shoot" training at the range. Being proficient with our duty weapons is extremely important and officers routinely practice their skills.

It's that time of year again! Here's a good reminder on when to stop for school busses that have their stop signs out.

Hey Perry, you can now LEGALLY shoot off fireworks within city limits... until July 5th! Perry city ordinance allows fireworks to be discharged July 1st through July 5th between the hours of 8am and midnight. For those that have been shooting them off already, yes...we know who you are.... carry on until the 5th.
