Lenexa Police Department News

We are seeking assistance in identifying these 2 suspects in an attempted car-jacking (robbery) which occurred last week. If you know who either might be please send us a private message or call 913-825-8122. Thank you for helping us fight crime in Lenexa!

Thanks to everyone who came out this morning for Coffee With Cops! Folks enjoyed their Lenexa Police popsockets and getting to meet Chase! We look forward to more opportunities this year to visit with our community!

This is Police K9 Ram. K9 Ram is a good boy. He doesn't just sniff out bad guys and drugs. Earlier this week K9 Ram led his handler, Corp. Sumner, to a person in distress in a frozen creek in the woods. Thanks to K9 Ram, officers were able to rescue the person to safety. Good boy. (and kudo's to Corp. Sumner for training a good boy)

Planning to come see us tomorrow morning for Coffee with Cops? We’ll have a LIMITED supply of Lenexa PD pop sockets to give away. We’ll be at Hyvee from 8-10 am. Come say hi!

We ❤️ you, Lenexa! Happy Valentines Day

Kyle made our day with this thoughtful and delicious cake! He’s part of Youth Services Alliance and wanted to spread some kindness to us! We ❤️ Lenexa

Thank you Deb and Colonial Presbyterian Church for the cookies and encouraging words today!

Our Citizens Police Academy enjoyed learning about our Police K9 Unit last night! Stayed tuned for information about our next CPA class which will begin in September!

Enjoyed talking safety last night with a local chapter of PEO International, a great organization working on behalf of women everywhere!

Come enjoy a free cup of coffee and conversation with some of our officers in a casual atmosphere. We have also found this a great setting to introduce your little ones to their local police officers!

Hope to see you at our next Coffee with a Cop event, Sat. Feb 17 from 8-10 am at Hy-Vee. Come enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation with some of our officers in a casual atmosphere. We have also found this a great setting to introduce your little ones to their local police officers!

This guy had seemed to have an extra glint in his smile after last nights Super Bowl.

While on patrol yesterday, Ofc Gaines couldn’t pass up the chance to support some neighborhood Girl Scouts 🍪. Maybe one day some of these girls will grow up to proudly wear the Lenexa blue!

Officer Peterson, St. James SRO, helped one of her students "creatively" ask another student to the WPA Sweetheart Dance!

If you're meeting a stranger to conduct a buy/sell transaction we strongly encourage you to do so in a safe, well lit place...for example our police station or most other police stations. If not there, at least a populated, well lit area. AVOID dark, off the beaten path parking lots or residential areas. If someone is unwilling to meet at a safe location, RED FLAG! We had a victim robbed last night and hope to prevent any more victims by bringing awareness to this.

Great story in the The Kansas City Star about the bond between Police K9's and their handlers. It features our own Police K9 Wrecker and his handler, Officer Donaldson! http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/community/joco-913/article197202489.html

A Lenexa church recently had us put on safety and security training for their usher team. We are proud to provide this service for our community. If your church or business would like assistance with crisis planning we’d love to help. Message us or call 913-477-7737.

Ad astra per aspera. Happy Kansas Day! 🌻🌻🌻

It definitely could have been worse outside but that water was still chilly at today’s Polar Plunge! Here’s our team going in! This is such a great event to raise money for Special Olympics.

We have a team that will be participating in the annual Polar Plunge Kansas to raise money for Special Olympics Kansas. We will be taking the plunge Jan 27 (brrrrrrr) at Schlitterbahn Kansas City. If you'd like to donate to our cause visit http://bit.ly/2D71QaD and thank you in advance for your support!

Honored to be part of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy and Scholarship Awards dinner. Great way to honor Dr. King’s legacy and contribution to our nation.

Congratulations to Major Dave Brown who retired after 30 years of dedicated service to the Lenexa Police Dept and citizens of Lenexa. Major Brown, a US Marine Corps veteran, began his law enforcement career as a civilian Public Service Officer before becoming a Police Dispatcher. Major Brown then became a patrol officer and eventually detective. Over the course of his career, Major Brown promoted to the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and finally Major. We wish him all the best in retirement!

Did you know we run our Citizens Police Academy TWICE a year? This week we started our Spring class which will run until March. We are currently accepting applications for our Fall class which starts in Sept. Visit http://bit.ly/2mfwqb6 to learn more about our CPA or to sign up! Short of working for us, the CPA is the best way to learn about the inner workings of our police department, including Dispatch, Patrol, K9, Tactical and more!
