Kansas Instruction Permit – 14-16 Years of Age Minimum Age – 14 Vision Test Required Written test required, or completion certificate from driver education course. Parent approval required for teen drivers 14 and 15 years of age The permit holder must drive with a licensed driver that is a minimum of 21 years of age. The use of wireless communication devices is prohibited – Emergencies Excepted The Instruction permit must be held for a period of 1 year to advance to a restricted license. On behalf of the Erie Police Department, I, Chief Tyeler Riggs, want to let the citizens of Erie know that an arrest was made in the early morning hours on today's date 08-07-2017 in reference to the break-in of a local business. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the individual responsible for the incident on 08-07-2017, is also responsible for the recent break-in's and damages that occurred to the other local businesses. Reports will be filed with the Neosho County Attorney's office. The name of the suspect will not be posted. And just a reminder, all are innocent until proven guilty. I as the Chief want to personally let the citizens of Erie know that we truly appreciate the shares our posts received in regards to this incident. On 07-28-2017, between thr hours of 12:00 and 6:00 AM, three businesses were broken in to in Erie, windows were broke and cash and coins were taken. Erie Kansas Municipal Code: Curfew for Minors. Section 12-79 it shall be unlawful for any person under 18 years of age to loiter, lounge, loaf, wander, or play in or upon any public street, alley, public park, square or municipal parking lot or sidewalk appurtenant thereto within the city after the hours of 11:00PM and before 6:00 AM the following Sunday through Thursday and after 12:00 midnight and before 6:00AM Friday and Saturday.

Lately we have had a lot of complaints about children without a full driver's license driving around on golf carts in Erie. We would like to remind everyone that this is not permitted and according to City Ordinance No. 2009-884 If you are found in violation of this ordinance you can be fined fees and court cost in the amount of $119.00. Also, according to City Ordinance sec. 8-142 all motorized vehicles without tags can be fined $119.00 in fees and court costs. If you are not in compliance with this ordinance please come in and get your tags. Thank you and have a safe weekend!
