Goddard Police Department News

If you are heading out tonight please make sure you have a designated driver. We would hate for you to start off the new year with us.

The Goddard police department would like to remind all motorists to pay attention, be patient and slow down for road and emergency workers...and buckle up!

At the Goddard City Council meeting tonight at 7:00 pm we will be swearing in our newest police officer. We would invite you to attend if you are free to show your support before he heads to the police academy next week.

This injured dog was found in the west part of Goddard near the highway. We are unable to identify the owner so if someone recognizes it and can help with locating his owner, please call us ASAP at 316-794-2051 or call 911 and ask to speak with an officer.

The Sedgwick Co "Text to 911" system is now operational. In an emergency we would prefer you call 911 to give the necessary information to the call-taker. But for those rare times when it is not safe to call 911 you can now text your message to "911".

Someone picked up these two beautiful dogs near Central and 199th W. If you have any info on the owner, please call us at 794-2441.

We have had a set of keys turned in to us if anyone is missing any! Also, a few days ago, we had a black box containing a watch and other jewelry. If you are missing anything like this, give us a call at 794-2051

Officer Kelsey McCann graduated the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center today and will begin her field training program this week. We are happy to have her in our ranks.

KANSAS GAS SERVICE TO INSTALL ELECTRONIC METER READING DEVICES ON METERS IN GODDARD Kansas Gas Service has begun installing electronic meter reading devices on residential meters in Goddard. To complete the installation, a technician will need access to the natural gas meter. The installation takes a few minutes to complete and is not expected to result in any disruption of service to the customer. Olameter is the contractor assisting Kansas Gas Service on this project. The contractors performing the work will carry photo identification badges that identify them as a contract worker for Kansas Gas Service. This project is expected to be complete in approximately five months, weather permitting. We do not anticipate any interruption to traffic flow. I was advised earlier that the techs will possibly be wearing vests with OLA on the back. Most, if not all, of their vehicles may possibly be marked also. Electronic meter reading devices increase efficiency and customer service. It reduces the need for meter readers to access customers' property monthly and reduces estimated bills due to the inability to access meters. Customers affected by this project will be notified by Olameter, the contractor assisting Kansas Gas Service.

Tomorrow is the first day of school! Please remember to slow down and watch out for all the students walking to school and crossing the streets. School zones will be enforced along with seat belt violations. Please drive safely and keep our kids safe!

One of our citizens had his custom-made wheelchair stolen on July 28, 2017 at approximately 12:30PM. The chair had been left on the curb in the 200 block of E. First. Its possible someone may have thought the chair was being discarded due to its location. Our citizen stated he was only gone for about 5 minutes when the chair was taken. The wheelchair is described as a Tilite brand Aerox-x model and is orange and red in color. We have posted a picture of a similar chair. If anyone knows of the location of this wheelchair, please give us a call at 316-794-2051 or leave us a message on this page. We appreciate any and all help to return the chair to its owner.
