We apologize, the previous post was a mistake. The paperwork we received was not for VIN inspections. We will let you know when those forms are received.

We have been re-stocked with VIN Inspection forms for those of you that might need VIN Inspections in the future. Please call 620-549-3247 if you require this service.

It was brought to my attention today by Mayor Tucker, he received concerns from several members of the public regarding the potential drug problems in our town. In particular, those that commented wanted to know what we, as a Police Department , were doing to combat the drug problem. First and foremost, we rely on the citizens of our community to report their concerns to us. We have in the past, and will continue, to encourage our citizens to bring any and all concerns to us. We see nothing as a waste of time, because if it is important to you, it is important to us. We also need the community to understand there is little we can do with hearsay and/or rumors. The information we need has to be factual and has to be of a detailed enough nature for us to follow up on and begin an investigation. We need folks willing to take a stand and not be afraid to hurt someone's feelings because they provided the Police Department with legitimate information regarding real, not perceived, crimes. Another issue we recognized within the last year is we have very limited resources to address, in particular, drug crimes. Quality investigations take time and manpower, two of which can be hard to come by in a small department. Because of this we have sent one of our Officers to advanced level training in the past year to begin to work on these problems. We are also working on partnerships with other agencies that can help with the resources we do not have. As a reminder, all of our staff are approachable and would love to hear your concerns about how we can serve you better. We cannot do our jobs without you. Please, if you see something, say something. Chief Adam Sayler

"We are now faced with the fact, my friends, that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late. Procrastination is still the thief of time. Life often leaves us standing bare, naked, and dejected with a lost opportunity. The tide in the affairs of men does not remain at flood - it ebbs. We may cry out desperately for time to pause in her passage, but time is adamant to every plea and rushes on. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words 'Too late.' " Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

If you are looking for a great job opportunity, representatives from the Larned correctional mental health facility are currently at the city office recruiting. All three of our current staff started their employment at this facility and received great training. It is a great place to work with good people.
