On 09/20/17 at approximately 2:15 PM, Officers with the Florence Police Department responded to the Florence Mall for a report of an infant locked inside a vehicle. Shortly after arrival the child's mother returned to the vehicle and was questioned by officers. The outside temperature at that time was noted as 83 degrees while the internal temperature of the vehicle was measured at 105 degrees. Further investigation indicated that the child's mother, Christina Krups (pictured), had left the vehicle unattended for a period of 10-15 minutes. She was arrested at the scene on a preliminary charge of Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree and the child was released to its father.
