The Mount Washington Police Department would like to advise you that there is a scam and they may make it look like they are calling from our department. It is a scam. They may say you have a warrant. We will not call you on the phone and tell you that you have a warrant and no government agency or bill collector will accept iTunes cards for payment. Folks, please be aware of the many different forms that scammers use to gain your money and do not fall for any of them. If you have a question, please hang up the phone and call us or the agency they say they are from and verify the validity and do not send anyone money via iTunes cards or any other form of payment.

All the guys and gals at the Mt. Washington Police Department must have been good this year. Santa stopped by to help deliver some early Christmas presents to some families that were struggling this holiday season through their Operation Bright Christmas. Every year our officers seem to find a way to help less fortunate families have a happier holiday season. Thanks guys for helping out our community in so many different ways. Oh, and thank you Santa for taking time out of your busy schedule to help too.

Congratulations to Officer Ben Norris for receiving the Governors Impaired Driving Enforcement Award. Ben worked hard keeping impaired drivers off our communities roadways so that our families and others who travel through our city could do so safely. Officer Norris led the department in DUI/Impaired Driving arrest. Thank you Ben for a job well done!

What a wonderful job by our officers this morning! After being dispatched to a house on fire, Officer Sweeney and Officer Nalley arrived on scene to hear a dog bark inside the home and smoke bellowing from the eaves. Derek and Todd kicked the door in to try to rescue anyone inside. There were three dogs and both officers were able to save them. The Mount Washington Fire Department arrived and made entry and located a cat inside where it was transported to Elk Creek Animal Hospital on 44E and Kingschurch Road. They quickly went to work to help the cat since it suffered a lot of smoke inhalation. Everyone worked together as a team and thankfully no one was inside and all the pets were saved from the house fire. The animals were very thankful to Officer Nalley and Officer Sweeney and gave many slobbery kisses to each of them. Congratulations guys and thank you for your dedication and risking your life for the sake of others. Your bravery speaks volumes and we know that when in need, you will face danger head on to save the life of another!!!

With winter months ahead, snow is certain to be in the forecast. City workers will be working hard to keep our streets cleared off and will need cooperation with those parking in the street blocking the path of plows. It is a violation to park in the street or block the sidewalk in the City of Mount Washington. Officers will be out strictly enforcing this so please be helpful and park in your driveway.

Our FOP members may be the one to put on the event, but it isn't possible without the sponsors, the donations, those who volunteer and mostly, the fisherman. The Mt.Washington Police would like to make you aware of a scam that is going around. A company by the name of Cane Auto is calling stating that you owe money for a outstanding debt and that they have a warrant for your arrest if not paid. The phone number that will come up on your phone is the Mt. Washington Police phone number. We will never call you and tell you that we have a warrant for your arrest. They are using a computer program that makes it appear that the number is coming from the Mt. Washington Police. We are trying to keep our community informed of these scams
