There is currently a post circulating claiming that the Alexandria Police Department has refused to address a traffic hazard in the area of Wal-Mart on US27. The state highway department was notified yesterday about a grate or manhole cover which had come loose in that area and as of yesterday they had responded and marked the hazard with cones and barrels. If there are ever any traffic issues which you feel need addressed please notify dispatch at (859)292-3622 so an officer can respond. Making posts to Facebook is not a very efficient way of notifying us of a problem.

Road is back open. Thanks for all your patience.

Just like people, pets' and live stocks' cold tolerance can vary from animal to animal based on their coat, body fat stores, activity level, and health. Be aware of your animals' tolerance for cold weather, and adjust accordingly.

GRANDPARENT SCAM ALERT! The grandparent scam is a form of telephone fraud. The scammer phones a grandparent and pretends to be a grandchild in distress and asks that funds be wired to a specified location. The scammers may also say that the grandchild needs money because of an accident, an injury, a theft or an arrest. Sometimes the "grandchild" pleads that other family members not be told because DUI or embarrassing circumstances are involved. The scammers can be very persuasive. In addition, the emotional distress caused by being told that a loved one is in trouble can make one abandon rational thought. Never wire money to an unknown person. If you receive a call about a family member in distress in a foreign country, verify the information with family members. The best way to stop this scam is to educate the public!
