On June 14, 2018 we took a theft report of a purse from a vehicle on the lot of Bluegrass Swim Club. The unknown person broke the rear passenger window out took the purse that was sitting on the back seat. Unknown person immediately went to Walgreens in Fort Wright and made a purchased of two cartons of cigarettes for 116.37 dollars. Please note, the soft walking boot on his right foot. The 2018 Memorial Day Service on the front lawn of the City Building yesterday was an important ceremony to honor our Veterans and Active Duty Military personnel. Without their service we would not enjoy the freedom we have. We had a great night at the Fort Wright Police Women’s Self Defense Class Friday. I want to recognize Officer Robert Griffin, Officer Vonhandorf, and Officer Bellau for their excellent training. I also want to thank Spec. Andy Vonderhaar for spending hours in the RED MAN suit doing the scenarios. All the ladies did an amazing job during the scenarios using their new techniques. We had a great night at the Women’s Self Defense class training with the ladies from the KY Vipers Volleyball Club. Thank you, Sgt. Colwell, Officer Griffin, and Amy Schworer, it could not be done without your help. Since starting this program, the Fort Wright Police has trained over 100 women to help them survive an attack, and to make the community stronger. Chief Schworer

The 2018 Clean Up on Saturday at the Memorial Site was a huge success! For those who volunteered, please accept my sincere gratitude for your help during the cleanup event. I know how busy schedules can be during this time of year, so I really appreciated the time each of you spent at the Memorial Site. People like you make our community a better place. Chief Schworer.

TRAINING ONLY! TRAINING ONLY! In our continued efforts to be prepared in the minimal chance of an active shooter situation. On Monday, April 30, 2018, the Fort Wright Police Department and St. Agnes School Administration will be running an active shooter TRAINING DRILL at St. Agnes School. We will start at 10am and should be done by noon. The children will be exiting the school just like they would in a real active shooter situation and will go to their rally points. Dixie Highway may be shut down to one lane each way during this time. There will be a lot of Fort Wright Police Officers on scene at this drill to ensure everyone’s safety. It is our goal that this DRILL will provide the students, staff, and the police department greater clarity of our safety procedures. Chief Schworer.

We had another successful night of training for Active Shooter and Crime Prevention presentation at the Fort Wright City Building, I want to recognize Officer Robert Griffin, he did a great job teaching crime prevention. It could not be done without him. This presentation is an excellent program and I strongly believe in it. Much of the fear and confusion can be avoided with information and being prepared. Teaching the basics will help everyone be prepared and able to protect against Intruders. Pay close attention to the Fort Wright web site and Facebook for upcoming classes.Chief Schworer.
