Congratulations to Sergeant Mark Hammonds for graduating from the Kentucky Criminalistics Academy! He dedicated himself to a total of 10 weeks of training to help with criminal investigation and evidence collection for the department!

Local heroes day! Our own Jeff Stamper is participating in a photo shoot and some commercial spots for the police department! While Jeff is representing the department, all of our officers are to be commended for keeping our streets safe!

We are planning community meetings for the citizens of Morehead! Our first meeting will be Monday, September 25, 2017 at 6:30 pm at the City of Morehead Administration Building on Bridge Street. Residents of the downtown area are invited to this meeting and explore ideas on how they can work together with the police department! Please share this post to get the word out!

This truck was stolen from Main Street on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 between the hours of 5 pm and 7 pm. If you see it, please call us!! Officer Wes Cox is working this case. Update: Vehicle has been recovered in Carter county after short pursuit, 2 subjects in custody .

The Morehead Police Department is taking part in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign now through September 4, 2017! Extra patrols will be conducted to get drunk/drugged drivers off the road!

Congratulations to the Route 377 Volunteer Fire Department on receiving a 2017 AFG grant for a new fire engine!

PLEASE BE ADVISED: Monarch needs to close the portion of Second St. behind ADUC for two hours on Wednesday, Aug. 16 from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. to pour concrete. They will be directing traffic as well. PLEASE SHARE.

Remember, Wednesday August 9 and Thursday August 10, 2017 are move in days for Morehead State University! Be prepared for a lot of traffic and please leave early for your destination. As always, be patient!
