Over the past week our department was able to volunteer over 100 hours at the Berrien County Youth Fair! We had great time serving along side many of our fellow agencies (police, fire, and ems) from across the county. Congratulations to all the fair participants on a job well done and we look forward to seeing you all next year! Also great job to Deputy Leasch winning third place for best outdoor display!
We would like to congratulate the group of young men who completed the Michigan Youth Leadership Academy (Benton Harbor group). Sgt. Long was able to act as a leader during the week in Lansing. Also Chief Sherene's son Charles was recognized with top honors.
Chief Sherene came to the Berrien County Sheriff's Kids Camp today!

Some more pictures from our adventures with Mrs. Severin First grade class!
On Friday Officer Hernandez and Officer Hartman were invited by Deputy Graves and Nellie the Bloodhound to attend her monthly Adopt a cop program in Ms. Severin 1st grade class at Lybrook Elementary in Eau Claire. When we arrived we were met in the hallways by every student in the school and given encouraging words and thanks for our service. This was just a small part of the hour they had in store for us. We were also joined by members of the following departments: Cass County animal control, Cass County K9 team Faust, Pokagon Band Tribal Police/Conservation, Berrien County Sheriff's Department And the Berrien Springs Oronoko Police Department. This was a great end to the Law enforcement memorial week. Thanks again for the great program Ms. Severin and staff at Lybrook. ( this clip of the Bruno Mars some they sang for us!)
We want to congratulate Deputy Graves and K9 Nellie the Bloodhound on providing 4 years of service to our community. For those of you who do not know K9 Nellie is a part of the Cass County Sheriff's Department but is allowed to provide mutual aid to area police departments outside of Cass County. Law enforcement bloodhounds are very sparse in the state of Michigan so we are very lucky to have such a great K9 and handler right around the corner from us. We look forward to both of your continued service to our community!
Happy St. PATRICK'S DAY. Please remember to be responsible and have a designated driver. #MichiganOfficeOfHighwaySafetyAndPlanning

Seasons Greetings to all, wishing you a Merry Christmas and a New Year of Peace and Happiness! Charles E. Sherene, Chief Eau Claire Police Department
We wish Sgt. Mckie a speedy and uneventful recovery. This a perfect example why the Michigan Office of Highway Safety and Planning campaign is "Drive slow in the ice and snow." Also you must move over or greatly reduce your speed when you see an emergency vehicle with their lights activated. It's the law! Please pay attention so we can make it home safe just like you .
We would like to thank all those who have served our country in the United States Military both past and present. We would also like to remind veterans the Eau Claire High School Veterans ceremony is tonight following a free dinner for those who served along with a guest. We hope to see you there.
Please be aware of what's happening in the area!
Congrats Trooper Janes!
Today Chief Sherene and Officer Hartman picked up our new Ford Explorer for the department. We want to give a shout out to Tim Place and all the Staff at Siemens in Bridgeman for the great service and help with the process. #BuiltFordTough #NotACharger
