Shelby Police Department News

Don’t forget to join us on the 26th for some ice-cream dipping and maybe, just maybe, some Karaoke With A Cop! The proceeds benefit our Honor Guard.

They “Rocked” us all the way from Maryland! Thanks, Bensons! The Shelby TV spot turned out really cute! @RocksForLEOs @shelbytv

Here’s the other part of today’s class. Welcome, Cadets!!

Our new cadet class is in training, learning alll of the most exciting parts about Police Work. Oh, and about paperwork. Lots and lots of paperwork.

Sgt. Beth Walsh sent in a pic to let us know that Michelle Mason and her daughter brought cookies and bagels at the end of shift yesterday. In her words: “They came just in time.... I was starving!” Thanks for keeping B Platoon going, Mason Family!

We got an amazing package from Maryland on Friday! Thank you #RocksForLEOs for these gifts for each one of our 71 uniformed officers. We are also proud to have been the recipient of their 1000th rock! (Team Shelby, please like and follow them to help us thank them!)

Today is the Kiwanis Club’s annual Bike Rodeo at Whispering Woods Park. Officer Lukas and Sgt Dowty will be there!

We know it’s #NationalDonutDay, but we kind of feel like the whole “cops/donuts” thing is a little played out. We consider ourselves a progressive Dept....we choose #NationalBaclavaDay. (Thanks @yeerosGrill @realChrisTayah )

What a great time today! Loved spending it surrounded by such amazing people!

“Chadley Cooper” and Officer Leslie are hanging out at Royal Oak Beaumont Community Health Fair until 2 pm today talking about substance abuse. Come see us! Officer Leslie needs water and Chadley needs a sandwich!

Can’t believe this was three years ago already!! This was when we first realized we could be human and have some fun on the interwebs and everyone would be ok. Thanks for joining us for the ride, Team Shelby!!

22 mile west of Hayes will be closed for a little bit for downed wires. This one car, minor injury accident is likely the result of a heat illness. Please stay cool and make sure you’re drinking lots of water. It’s HOT!

This is a GREAT info graphic. Thanks, Sarasota!

Is there a better way to start a post-holiday Tuesday than with a pic of Officer Fettig in a shark costume? (Fun fact: Officer Fettig LOVES shark when she saw this costume at a garage sale, she went back on her lunch and snatched it up. Thanks, Molly, you made her day!)

Can’t think of any better way to say this than our friends @relentlessdefender.

***PRESS RELEASE*** Serious Injury Accident***

Hurriedly rush into Home Depot looking for a paintbrush and I’m suddenly, silently, listening to my child read the explanation for the Missing Man table setting. Thank you, The Home Depot, for reminding us what this holiday is about. -L #ThoseArentTears #OnionNinjas #ThankYou Note: found out this display was sponsored by a wonderful non-profit called Boat4Vets. Please visit them here on Facebook at Boat4vets or on the web at and check out what they do. And if the Spirit moves you, drop them a note to say thank you.

Troy Police Dept. thinks we should do a show with them called “Paw and Order”....starring their Pawfficer Donut. We asked #K9Niko what he thought about playing second fiddle to a feline. His reaction didn’t seem all that “pawsitive”. 🙄

Big day today! We promoted three patrol officers to Sergeant and swore in a brand new boot. Congrats to Sgts. Hogan, Dowty and Heisler and welcome Officer Retzler! We look forward to great things from all of you.

Det. Johnson would like to speak with this man about the $1200 worth of posies he (allegedly) pinched from Vince and Joe's just before Mothers Day. We THINK the car is a black Mercedes. We KNOW his mom would not be proud. Call Det. Johnson at 586-731-2121 ext. 348
