On 2/21/18 at approximately 7:30am, The Garden City Police Department was alerted to the discovery of a single bullet by a student in a stairwell in Garden City High School. As a precaution the school was placed in lock-down and a search of the school was begun by Garden City Public School Personnel. GCPD Officers responded to the school to provide added security during the search. Further, as an added measure of caution, police K9s trained in the detection of explosive material, were summoned to the school and performed a sweep. No further ammunition or contraband were found during the search and sweep. ****GCHS staff and officers have completed the sweep and the lockdown has been lifted.****

Yesterday, students from the Burger Transition Center stopped by the PD to sing us Christmas Carols. Just like last year, it was awesome! A big GCPD thank you to the students and faculty who stopped by and sang, it made our day!

Last week a number of Garden City Officers participated in the "Shop with a Hero" event sponsored by the Goodfellows in Livonia, Redford Township, and Garden City. Our officers had a great time Christmas shopping with the kids. Thank you to all who were involved, it was a great event. http://www.hometownlife.com/story/life/community/observer/livonia/2017/12/15/shop-hero-livonia-redford-garden-city/940564001/

Thank you to all those who donated to the Toys for Tots box at the police department this year. It's been awesome to see our community's generosity on display in our lobby. Great job Garden City!
