The non-emergency phone lines to the Gibraltar Police Department and to City hall are now working

Trick or Treating hours will be from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm on Halloween. The Rotary club will be hosting a Halloween Party at the Community Center starting at 7:00 pm.

On Sunday, October 22nd Schumate Middle School will be hosting a 5k Monster Mash at approx 10:00 am. West Jefferson will be closed for approx 1 hour to allow runners to cross West Jefferson Avenue. An alternate route for north bound West Jefferson traffic will be west on Woodruff Rd to north bound Old Fort St. South Bound West Jefferson traffic will be diverted onto Kingbridge St to South Gibraltar Rd, then back to West Jefferson Ave.

The Tour de Ile bicycle ride will be traveling through Gibraltar on Sunday, September 24th. The ride starts on Gross lle at approx 8:00 am and should be riding through Gibraltar between 9:00 and 10:30 am. Increased bicycle traffic will be noticed on West Jefferson, Adams Dr., Bayview St., Stoeflet St.,and Middle Gibraltar Rd. Approximately 100 bicyclists are expected to participate in the event.

September 23, 2017 PRESS RELEASE On Friday September 22, 2017 at approximately 930pm, our department responded to a call of a Felonious Assault. The female caller reported that she was shot by another person with a BB gun. The incident occurred on Fryer north of Navarre near Parsons School. Uniformed officers arrived on scene and spoke to the female victim. The Gibraltar Fire Department responded to treat the victim. The victim gave responding officers a description of the SUSPECT vehicle. A vehicle matching that description was stopped within 10-15 minutes of the incident. There were two (2) arrests made at that time. The investigation is currently ongoing and the Gibraltar Police Department will forward the details of the investigation to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s for review. We would like to thank the Rockwood Police Department, the Trenton Police Department, the Woodhaven Police Department and the Gibraltar Fire Department for their assistance in the investigation.

The Carlson High School homecoming parade is on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 5:00 pm. The parade will start at the Gibraltar Community Center (29340 South Gibraltar Rd) and will travel South on S. Gibraltar and end in the Carlson High School parking lot. Come out and support your 4-0 Carlson High School football team!

Monday, 09-11-17 is Patriot Day. This is an annual observance to remember those who were injured or died during the terrorist attack in the United States on September 11, 2001. Please observe a moment of silence at 8:46 am.

The Gibraltar Public Schools are back in session on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017. Please be mindful of children waiting at the bus stops and stopped school busses picking up the children. The speed limit is reduced on Middle Gibraltar Rd. east of West Jefferson to 25 mph from 8:10 am through 8:45 am and from 3:40 pm until 4:10 pm. The speed limit is reduced to 25 mph on West Jefferson in front of Shumate and C.H.S. from 7:10 am through 8:15 am and again from 2:30 pm until 3:35 pm.

WATER LEVELS WILL DECREASE AFTER MIDNIGHT AS THE EASTERLY WINDS SLOWLY DIMINISH.

On Wednesday, August 30th, at 6:00 pm the Michigan State Police will be hosting a free seminar in the Gibraltar City Hall Councl Chambers on internet scams, phishing scams, and telemarketing scams. The event is free to the public.

Texting Laws All Michigan drivers are prohibited from texting while driving. Under Michigan's anti-texting law (sec. 257.602.b) a driver shall not "read, manually type, or send a text message on a wireless 2-way communication device that is located in the person's hand or in the person's lap, including a wireless telephone used in cellular telephone service or personal communication service, while operating a motor vehicle that is moving on a highway or street in this state. The exceptions include drivers who: •Report a traffic accident, medical emergency, or serious road hazard. •Report a situation in which the person believes his or her personal safety is in jeopardy. •Report or avert the perpetration or potential perpetration of a criminal act against the individual or another person. •Carry out official duties as a police officer, law enforcement official, member of a paid or volunteer fire department, or operator of an emergency vehicle.

On 07-26-17 the Downriver SWAT Team in conjunction with the US Border Patrol will be training in the Gibraltar canals. An increased police presence in para-military attire will be noticeable from the hours of 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. The launch point for the exercise will be on Worth St. This is only a training exercise.
