Funny, Bud usually gets more pie on his face when he's eating it! I'm sure Sheriff Leslie has been wanting to do this for a loooong time.

We have received a few calls from concerned citizens regarding this flyer posted around town. Officer Forsberg looked into it and found it to be a legitimate flyer. The Pioneer Press uses a third party contractor to hire people to deliver the paper. They have been made aware of the concerns. Thank you to everyone who called to report them!

Chief Shaver was challenged by Dakota County Sheriff's Office and the Hastings Police Chief to collect food/cash donations or get a "pie in the face" for 360 Communities. All donations collected by Chief Shaver will be going to Neighbors, Inc.. Donation boxes are in the lobby of city hall.

Officer Melville (yes, the one in the kilt) was recently headed down Robert Street behind a driver that was paying more attention to their meal than the road. Not only did they not see the cop behind them, they didn't see the car in front of them until it was too late. For all of our safety, put the food and the phone down and drive.

Each year the department hosts a yearly meeting to discuss the year prior and give out the teamwork award. The 2017 teamwork award went to a extremely hard working and dedicated group of ladies who don’t get the credit they deserve. As cops, we think we do a lot of paperwork! But for every report we write, our administrative staff does double that and then corrects all our mistakes! They do behind the scenes work that even we don’t know about and absolutely take for granted! Congratulations ladies! This is a well deserved teamwork award!

Congratulations to Jerri Schmidt, our investigative assistant who was awarded a Crime Mapping Award from the Minnesota Association of Criminal Intelligence Analysts for her hard work in preparing evidence for a homicide case. Her crime maps helped present evidence in a clear and understandable way that resulted in a guilty plea last year. Congratulations to Investigative Assistant Schmidt!
