On Monday at about 12:53 officers responded to a call of a theft of a motorcycle in the 8200 block of West River Rd. A similar theft had occurred in this same area just a few days ago. Officers checked the area and located the suspect driving West on Brookdale Dr from Xerxes Ave N. The suspect jumped off the bike at Ewing Ave N and ran on foot through the area. The suspect was seen on the North side of Birch Grove School however he refused to stop and continued running. The suspect was eventually taken into custody in the 7900 block of June Ave N. Officers appreciated the help of several citizens who saw the suspect and alerted us to him.

We hope to see you this weekend at Tater Daze! Don't forget the police department and fire department open houses will be going on this Saturday too!

We want to give a special thank you to: Luther Brookdale Honda Luther Brookdale Chevrolet Luther Brookdale Toyota Luther Brookdale Volkswagen Luther Brookdale Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Luther Brookdale Mazda Mitsubishi In 2007 the Brooklyn Park Police Department commissioned the Police Executive Research Forum to research crime trends in the City of Brooklyn Park, with a specific focus on violent crimes. The study indicated that juvenile crime in the area was disproportionately high. As a result, the Department began a Youth Violence Prevention Initiative and started looking for ways to engage with disconnected and marginalized youth in activities to promote positive relationships and develop lifelong skills. We recognize that it takes many partners to make our programs effective and achieve our goals. In 2009 we began the first annual Cops N Kids Fishing Tournament. Each year this event has impacted the lives of over 100 disconnected youth. In 2015 a major sponsor of the Tournament was unable to fulfill its commitment and it appeared as though the event would not go on. We reached out to the Luther Brookdale Auto Dealerships, describing the event and the dire situation we found ourselves in. Collectively, the dealerships recognized the value in their partnership and made this event a priority, allowing the Tournament to go on uninterrupted. They have subsequently become key partners by supporting this event annually. The Luther Brookdale Auto Dealerships are commended for their commitment to our community and for their willingness to partner with the Department in an effort to build positive relationships with our youth. They have paved the way with their dedication to corporate social responsibility and clearly understand that they can positively influence social well being. Thank you!
