Deephaven Police Department News

Another reminder- DO NOT mail items from your home mailbox. Use a USPS blue box which is secure. Our area is having mail taken from mailboxes. A suspect will take mail, often containing a check used to pay a bill, and "wash" the check. "Wash" means using a solvent to wash away the ink on the check. They now have a clean, blank check they can write out for their benefit. Please contact us for any suspicious activity you see. Use 911 for the best response. We want to check on a person or car instead of hearing about it later. We also recommend using a locking mailbox for the best protection.

Our Toys for Tots drive is going great. Tomorrow we will deliver the toys to the KARE11 studios with other law enforcement agencies. There is still time tomorrow to drop off toys at our PD lobby.

Our hearts are heavy for our friends with the Wayzata Police Department today. Our prayers are with them and the family of Officer Mathews.

Do you know where to go at work/school and home? Have a plan!

We recommend residents obtain a locking mailbox to protect you from mail and identity theft. Do not place outgoing mail in your mailbox, use a blue box at a USPS location. We continue to take mail theft reports in our communities.

Thank you to all who dropped off toys. This was by far our most successful year of delivering toys to children in need, in partnership with Toys for Tots and the US Marines!

We have begun our annual Toys for Tots campaign. To participate, bring a new unwrapped toy to the Deephaven Police Department lobby by December 15 at 1pm. We will then deliver the toys by police caravan to the KARE 11 studios along with dozens of other metro area police officers.

Come visit us at the Excelsior Fire District, MN open house 5:30-8pm.

We had a great Night to Unite Tuesday evening! 13 neighborhood parties and a lot of great interaction with our community. Thank you all!
