Medina Police Department News

On Wednesday, April 18th, the Medina Police Reserves hosted a seminar about Highway Safety Awareness for Emergency Responders. Police Reserves from numerous west metro departments had the opportunity to learn from MNDOT’s, John McClellan, and West Hennepin Public Safety’s, Sgt. Rick Denneson, as they provided valuable information about traffic safety. Good luck to all our neighboring departments working the streets keeping the communities we serve safe!

Truth! It’s an epidemic! Put your phones down! We honor Officer Bill Mathews. Never forgotten!

Another reminder, tell your friends. We're seeing MANY drivers out there without their lights on. Minnesota law says that every vehicle on a roadway shall display lighted headlamps, lighted tail lamps, and illuminating devices from sunset to sunrise and at any time when it is raining, snowing, sleeting, or hailing or at any other time when visibility is impaired by weather or insufficient light.

Save your appetite for pancakes until the 22nd!!!

Please turn your headlights on during inclement weather conditions! Know before you go! 511MN

Please slow down! Keep your EYES ON THE ROAD! There are no excuses to drive distracted!

⭐️⭐️ Crime Prevention Tip: SECURE YOUR HOME‼️

MEDINA POLICE 🚨 CRIME ALERT 🚨 On Wednesday, April 4th, Medina Police responded to a residential burglary off Willow Drive in Medina. People were asleep when the burglars entered the home. In addition. we have taken several theft reports of vehicles being entered and rummaged through with items being taken. The vehicles were not locked. We have learned that the suspects followed a path along westbound County Road 6, entering homes and vehicles in Medina, Orono, and Independence. Our investigators are working on locating the suspects. We are asking for anyone that may have seen anything suspicious the night of April 4th to contact the Medina Police Department, Investigator, Kevein Boecker: 763-473-9209 The suspects are criminals of opportunity. They are looking for an easy target. Don’t become their next opportunity!! ⭐️ SECURE YOUR HOMES AND VEHICLES‼️ ⭐️ If you need assistance in improving your home security, we can help! Contact our department and an officer, or representative, will be more than HAPPY to assist you. We PROUDLY serve the wonderful communities of Medina, Hamel, and Loretto. 👮🏻‍♀️👮🏻‍♀️👮🏻‍♀️👮🏻‍♀️

⭐️⭐️⭐️Crime Prevention Tip: We urge you to consider NOT placing your personal mail inside your mail box. The red flag you raise to alert the postal worker is also sending signals to opportunistic thieves watching, or trolling, your neighborhood. Please bring ALL personal mail directly to the BLUE MAIL BOXES throughout various cities. This ensures your identity and mail is PROTECTED! ⤵️⤵️⤵️⤵️ Why is this important?? Elk River Police arrested a suspect on April 3, 2018 for attempting to cash an altered check at a bank in Elk River. The stolen check belonged to a Medina resident on Navajo Road. The suspect used a "washing" method to alter the check. The check amount was increased to $1,000 before attempting to cash it at the bank. If you see something suspicious, say something! Call our police department any time day or night to report the activity: 763-473-9209

The Medina Police Department is looking for the assistance of the public with the ID of the female and/or owner of the vehicle in the photographs below. The female was the passenger in the vehicle that is believed to be involved in theft of mail. On March 12, 2018, the female attempted to use a stolen credit card at the ATM inside the Casey’s Store in Medina. If you know the identity of either the female, or the owner of the vehicle, please contact the Medina Police Department at: 763-473-9209. As always you will remain anonymous 👮🏻‍♀️👍🏻

As we welcome a new month, we encourage you to take time for the UNSUNG HEROES inside your home! It's a general rule of thumb to test your smoke alarms once a month. It's EASY to schedule on the 1st of each month. We want you and your family SAFE and SECURE!
