Officer McDonald showed the Melrose Cub Scouts the Police 👮‍♀️ Dept. And did fingerprint cards for them last night!!

***Scam Alert*** A resident called to report they had received a call from the IRS demanding they pay 1000s of dollars for late fees and fines related to unpaid taxes. The caller said an arrest warrant was issued and the fees and fines needed to be paid to avoid being arrested. THE IRS WILL NEVER CALL ANYONE!!! The IRS operates through the US Postal Service for their information delivery.

**Winter Storm Update** The Winter Storm Warning continues until 6am tomorrow Tuesday morning. The heaviest snowfall is still anticipated this afternoon and evening, when it is likely to see 1-2 inches per hour. The total snowfall amounts have also increased with the range now being 8-10 inches. Please stay aware of the changing weather conditions as all indications are that they will deteriorate as the day goes on. Winter Storm Warning details: * WHAT...Heavy snow expected this afternoon, with a light mix this morning. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, with localized amounts up to 12 inches in central MN, and ice accumulations of a light glaze are expected. * WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Wisconsin and central, east central, south central, southeast and west central Minnesota. * WHEN...From 6 AM this morning to 6 AM CST Tuesday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

***Melrose schools are closed tomorrow, March 5th, because of freezing rain, high winds and heavy snow fall***

***Parking notice**** It sounds like the snow totals for today’s round of weather are dropping closer to 2-3 inches. The Street Dept will be out early Sunday morning plowing. Please have cars off the street to help them do their job efficiently!

We haven’t had much for snow this year, but this last week and ahead seem to want to bring a bit more every time the roads and driveways get cleared off. Be prepared and drive safe.

***Weather Alert*** Reports are indicating 4"-6" inches of snow, starting Wednesday and carrying into Thursday. As with any winter weather please be prepared for poor driving conditions, limited visibility and extra time needed to reach your destination.

***Has anyone seen Baby Jesus?*** Baby Jesus went missing sometime over the weekend. We are working to get him back, but would like the public to help us do that as soon as possible. This display is owned privately for the public to view during the holiday season and the owners would like to continue that tradition. If you have any information related to the theft or would like to return it prior to a visit from our department it would be greatly appreciated.
