Menahga Police Department News

Recently the city has been experiencing vehicle and other break-ins around town. We do have a few suspects but still need the communities help. These losers have made their way around various parts of town but the majority of incidents have occurred on the eastern side. Some things people can do to minimize the chance of being a victim are as follows: Remove items and lock your vehicle even when it is parked in your driveway - and utilize any outside lighting you have available. Motion lights are relatively inexpensive now and can be hard wired in or solar powered. Please report any suspicious activity regardless of how insignificant it may appear. Many cases require several pieces of the puzzle to put something together, however, we need something to work with. We can sort through information and use what we need or dispose of what's not needed. Thank you, Chief K.

On Saturday, July 8th at approximately 2030 hours, during the Mid-Summer parade a seven year old boy was accidentally run over by a two wheeled expandable boom, which, was being pulled by a truck. The accident occurred on St Hwy 87 just east of Juniper Ave. The wheel of the boom went over the boy causing various injuries to his lower extremity and torso. Emergency medical treatment was initiated immediately by police, fire and medical personnel. He was transported to the Menahga school football field where he was airlifted to Fargo for further treatment. The incident is being investigated by the Mn State Patrol as it occurred on a state highway. Until we receive further permission from his parents to release specific information all we can say is he is in good hands and making a recovery. We will update things as soon as possible.
