There are a couple new scams we have been made aware of. 1st one is someone calls and says your grandchild has been in a accident and also arrested. They will but someone else on the phone and they will say grandma or grandpa. Then you in return say your grand child's name. They tell you they need $2000-$2500 but will reduce it to $965.00. The phone number associated with this scam is 404-287-2429. Please do not send them any money. They want you to go to Western Union and send it. THIS IS A SCAM. 2nd Just had a gentleman stop in and say he received a call from his Social Security asking about other insurance. He contacted SS and they told him they do not call and ask about your information or other insurance. It is unclear what the end game in this scam is but please be aware it is a scam. It has come to our attention of a new scam. I have included the document which comes with the check. Do not cash. Banks will also be watching for these to come in and warn you as well.

To all City of Kahoka residents. Car tags are now past due and are $10 each. Please get you car tags before May 1. After May 1 we will be issuing citations for the violation of city ordinance for car tags.

The Kahoka Police Department is accepting applications for a full time law enforcement officer. Applications are due at the Kahoka Police Department by August 30, 2016. Applicants must be POST certified and be in good standings with post. Salary for this position will be $24,958.00 plus benefits for the employee. Clark County residents be sure to lock your vehicle and remove valuable items such as billfolds and purses. Several vehicles were broken into last night around Kahoka! If anyone sees anyone out late or early in the morning which looks suspicious please call the Sheriff's Office.

Attention!! All City of Kahoka residents, you must have a vehicle registration/car tag for every vehicle you own. They are $5.00 per vehicle until February 29th. On March 1st they become $10.00 per vehicle. All delinquent vehicle registration/car tags will be ticketed.

There are a number of scams going around. 1 is a man will call and say you have won 2 million dollars. He needs you to send so much money for filling fee and may also ask you to send phones to him. THIS IS A SCAM. 2 We have received a check from Mobil. This check is fraudulent, it will cash like any other check but after a few days it bounces and you are stuck with the fees. Nobody just sends you money and ask for you to do something in return for it. If this happens it is a scam. If you think it may be a scam call 660-727-2915 and we will check into it.

When taking yard waste to the city dump you are required to take all yard waste out of bags as it is against EPA regulation to burn them. The dump is under 24 hour surveillance and anyone not following the regulations will be ticketed. We would like for all citizens to please follow the regulations of the dump and only dump yard waste so it continue to be open and no citations will have to be issued. New scam has come to our attention tonight. A local business received a call regarding he electricity being shut off in 2 hours unless a payment is made. THIS IS A SCAM. If you receive this call please contact the police department or the sheriffs office. Do not give them any information.

Clark County Sheriff's Office is looking for part-time people to work in the jail and dispatch. Need to be able to pass a back ground check, multitask, and be dependable.

If you have not already done so, please renew your City of Kahoka vehicle tags prior to 04/27/2014. After that date citations may be issued. If you no longer have a vehicle, please notify City Hall so your name can be removed from the list of delinquent tag holders. Please spread the word to friends and family as a friendly reminder. There is a new Scam going around saying you have won 6.5 million dollars. The guy calling is James Addison the phone number is 8764673714. This is a scam give no information to him.
