A huge shout out to 15 year old Bryce of Blue Springs. He arranged the donation of Pizza and Cookies to the PD yesterday. He also gathered comments supporting the Police Department on Facebook and then made a poster board that he presented to the group of officers. Thank you Bryce!!!

Congratulations to Officer Keegan Hughes on being awarded the Mayor's Legion of Merit Award. Presenting the award to Officer Hughes is Mayor Carson Ross. We are proud.

This will take place during the City Council Meeting on Monday, April 16th starting at 6:00 pm in the Public Safety Building - Council Chambers.

Update: The camp is FREE, registration is required, and you do need to be a Blue Springs resident. This is a great program and sessions will fill up. Get registered today and join the 6th Annual GIRLS ON FIRE.

Officer Mitchell (SRO with Blue Springs South High School) was presented with a 'Supervisor's Award' today for his life saving efforts on March 8th at school. He and school nurse Debbie Button worked together to perform CPR on a student who was suffering from seizures, while Coach Jon Oyler called 911 and grabbed an AED. Great example of a TEAM effort to save a student's life. Congratulations!

On 4/6/18 representatives from Walmart Neighborhood Market brought snacks and drinks to the officers on-duty. What a wonderful thing to do. Thank you from the men and women of the Blue Springs Police Department.

Congratulations to Dispatchers Christi Laing, Christian Boan, Teri Sandlin (not pictured) as well as Dispatch Supervisor Brian Alexander for being awarded 'Outstanding Multi Agency Performance Award' at the MARC Telecommunicator dinner. They received the award for aiding the Independence Police Department last year when Officer Wagstaff was shot.

The Blue Springs Police Department Citizen's Police Academy graduating class #28. We have now graduated 522 Blue Springs Citizens from the CPA. Thank you Blue Springs and congratulations.

UPDATE: Answering the Call – Friday Day 8 & Saturday Day 9 Please see the new times for arrival into Blue Springs. Hope to see you there!!! Let’s make this a great homecoming for Officer Hughes as he honors and remembers the fallen. Friday, Day 8. This is the day on the road and we will be honoring Assistant Chief Harold Hollingsworth, Fort Osage Fire Department, EOW 04/07/2013. We are extending this invitation for all to come out and line Pink Hill Road (outlined in the picture) along the route to cheer Officer Hughes on. After 8 days of on the road and Officer Hughes putting so much effort into this great cause and for the fallen heroes, we want to welcome him on this day to HOMECOMING. The planned time for arrival into Blue Springs has been moved up to 3:00 pm. Officer Hughes and the group will be at Brittany Hills Middle School as final stop for day 8. Saturday, Day 9. Our last day of this journey and we will be honoring Larry Leggio & John Mesh, KCFD, EOW 10/12/2015 Everyone (and friends & family) & community is welcomed to attend the sendoff. We will be setting up at Brittany Hills at 1045 hrs with the ceremony beginning around 1100 o’clock, after Keegan’s arrival we will be having our final sendoff. We will be departing Brittany Hill Middle School at approximately noon in a small procession.

Day 6 - Project Remember. Starting in Boonville, MO and honoring Officer Gary Michael, Clinton, MO Police Department EOW 08/06/2017 and Officer Christopher Morton, Clinton, MO Police Department EOW 03/06/2018. Running with Officer Hughes today is Chief Bob Muenz of the Blue Springs Police Department. Way to go to all!!!....

Day 5 - Running with Governor Grietens and Officer Hughes and the wonderful group out there supporting "Answering the Call".

Day 5. Answering the Call. Officer Hughes starting ceremony for the day was in Easley, MO. He and others met with family members of the Day 5 Honoree - Bruce Britt, Columbia, MO Fire Department EOW 02/22/2014. We will continue to give updates day-by-day. Hope to see lots of support on Friday afternoon as Officer Hughes runs into our City of Blue Springs.
