Attempted Armed Robbery On November 6, 2017, at approximately 9:57 p.m., officers responded to the Dollar General Store located at 1441 Forum Drive in Rolla regarding an attempted armed robbery. Upon arrival officers learned that a black male had approached a cashier near the cash register, displayed a large knife, made threatening statements and demanded the money from the register. The cashier yelled for help, at which time the male ran from the store without any money or merchandise. Officers from several agencies responded to the area and began searching for the suspect. A short time later a Trooper from the Missouri State Highway Patrol located the suspect on foot near the Forum Cinema located on 18th Street. At that time a 16-year-old juvenile was detained for Attempted Robbery in the First Degree. The weapon used during the incident was located on the juvenile. The juvenile was later turned over the Phelps County Juvenile Officer. Agencies assisting in this investigation were the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol. The charges for which the juvenile has been detained are mere accusations. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
