We ended Police Week with our annual Memorial Service. We appreciate all who attended and spoke. We will never forget the sacrifices of those who have served.

Congratulations to Lieutenant Jeff Necaise. He has retired from us with 24 years of service. In his time at Gulfport he has served on Patrol, Bike Patrol, Traffic Division, Tactical Team, and retired as the Officer in Charge of Information Services. Congratulations to Sergeant Tommy Payne. He has graduated from the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course Class 139. This course is approximately four months long and held at the University of Louisville. Payne served as the Sergeant at Arms for the class. #gulfportproud

Several Gulfport Officers participated in the Special Olympics torch run this afternoon. They met Officers from Long Beach PD at Hwy 90 and the Long Beach city limits. GPD will carry the torch to the city limits at Biloxi where Biloxi PD will carry on. We are proud to have been a part this years torch run. #specialolympics #gulfportproud

Today is Captain Neal Stachura’s last day. He has served for nearly 25 years. He has served in many capacities from K9 to Captain of Special Events. We wish him the best in retirement. #gulfportproud

Congratulations to Officer Victor Moreno he was Gulfport Police Department’s Crimestoppers Officer of the year and also won Crimestoppers Harrison County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Officer Moreno was recognized for arresting a bank robber while off duty. #gulfportproud

Shock Sunday! The Academy started this past Sunday. Aaron Ashcraft, Tyler Cook, Brandon Robertson, Chase Blackwell, and Nicholas Hudson are doing well. This is just a small sample of what they experienced.

This morning Chief Papania was recognized by Luis Colon on behalf of Secretary of Defense James Mattis as a Patriotic Employer in support of the National Guard and Reserves. There are many Gulfport Police Officers who are current/former members of the National Guard and Reserve. Several are deployed or will be deployed this year. The Gulfport Police Department strongly supports our service members. #gulfportproud.

Yesterday morning we swore in four new Officers. Welcome Chase Blackwell, Christopher Rote, Michael Hudson, and Emily Smith. They are beginning their training this week and several will begin the Police Academy this weekend. #gulfportproud

The Aston Family brought in Pop Brothers as a thank you for Officer Jeff Clark responding to a call at their home. Officer Clark contained their loose family dog at a neighbors until they could make it home. #gulfportproud

Last night we held a civil service test and physical test. Applicants completed a math and reading comprehension test followed by pushups, agility test, and 1.5 mile run. We test monthly. Next month this could be you!
