Bethel Police Department received a call reporting the larceny of a large mower and trailer valued at $7000.00 on 6/14/2017. There was an investigation conducted by Officer Rhodes and Bethel Police that led to 4 arrests on 6/23/2017. Reporting officer: Sgt. T.K. Leggett, Public Information Officer Offense Date: 12/2/2016 Narrative Info: Bethel Police responded to 3 residential break ins today, a resident was home at the time of one of the B & Es; at a second B & E a witness was able to identified suspects and in a third B & E Officers found an unsecured door to a residence where they found a suspect inside with stolen property believed to have been taken from previous break-ins from earlier in the day. Bethel Police Department and Pitt County Sheriff’s Office worked in collaboration to detain a fifteen and seventeen year old suspect. The 17 year old who was later arrested and taken to the Pitt County Detention Center where he was placed under a $25,000.00 secured bond. During the investigations it was determined that these suspects were connected to additional crimes in the area and further charges and additional arrests could be made.
Bethel police department recieved a call at 5:56pm requesting assistance at the Dollar General located at 125 Smith Speir Ln, Bethel, NC. It is reported that a custody exchange was taking place when multiple suspects got into an altercation leading to shots being fired. One victim was shot and is being treated at Vidant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. This is an on going investigation and police will provide more information as the case continues to develop.
The Town of Bethel is enacting a curfew to start at 7pm Sunday and end at 7am Monday morning. Town Officials and Bethel Police appreciate your cooperation as we continue to work to maintain the safety of Bethel residents and as we continue to recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
Effective immediately the Town of Bethel would like its citizens to know the town waste system is unable to pump any waste/water at this time. Please put as little water/waste as possible down drains and limit your use of water and toilets until otherwise notified. We appreciate your cooperation!
There as been a State of Emergency declared for Bethel, NC due to standing water, streets flooding and there being electric lines down and power outages. A curfew has been imposed as of 8:30pm tonight and will be in effect until 7am Sunday morning.
Anyone in Bethel that needs transportation to the shelter report to the Bethel Fire Department and transportation will be provided.
In an effort to keep the good people of Bethel safe the Bethel Police Department would like to make everyone aware that many of the Bethel streets are flooding and have standing water. We are requesting that people please stay at home and limit travel. If you must travel please be mindful of standing water and it's ability to cause a vehicle to stall and or lose traction and float. Bethel Police were called to a home on Moore Drive approximately 1:00am this morning (7/12/2016) for a Breaking and Entering. When Bethel Police responded to the scene they found their victim was a 97 year old female, she had been assaulted and her purse was stolen during the break and entering. Bethel Police were able to apprehend the suspect; Dietrich Atron Purvis of Bethel in connection with the crime. He was arrested and charged with FIRST DEGREE BURGLARY; LARCENY AFTER B & E and ASSAULT ON A FEMALE. Purvis is currently being held at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $200,000.000 bond

At approximately 9:00am today (03/18/2016) the Bethel Police Department received a call reporting shots fired in the area of Parker Court. While police were enroute to the location of the report a male subject with a gunshot wound to the leg arrived at the Bethel Police Department. EMS was called and the male subject was transported to Vidant Medical Center for treatment. Parker Court is in close proximity to Bethel Elementary School and the school was placed on a modified lockdown at the request of the Police Department until the area could be cleared/investigated. There was also a report of a house being hit by bullets in the area during the time. The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Bethel Police Department with investigative efforts. Police officials will provide further information as it is received. For those of you in the Bethel area we now have a medication drop box in the lobby of the Police Department. Any old medication you have can be deposited in the box and we will properly dispose of it.
9/27/2015 at approximately 1:30am Bethel Police were called to Smith Street and Louis Jenkins Drive for a disturbance in the street, an Officer arrived and found approximately 80 people in the roadway. Police were informed 4 people were stabbed in an altercation. Police called for EMS and gained assistance from the Pitt County Sheriff's Office to contain the scene. 4 people were transported to Vidant Medical Center for treatment. Bethel Police charged Contrell Ravon Davis with Attempt 1st Degree Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill. He is being held at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $1,000,000.00 bond. Charges are pending and other arrests are expected to follow in the case.
Missing/Run Away Juvenile, 15 year old Jose Salucio, DOB 12/15/99. Jose Salucio left his residence around 9:00pm tonight. It is unknown who Salucio left with, he may be possibly heading to Chicago. Please contact Bethel Police Department at 252-818-0887.
